  1. HOHNER English Concertina 48Key treble reveted action with accordion reeds. Push and pull should be F6, but E6 comes out by pushing. Can I tuning the reeds up one note? For this, I made a tuning bellows, but I have absolutely no skill in tuning.
  2. Wheatstone 56-key treble English system Aeola, with nickel-plated metal ends and ebony trim, #23111 and made about 1902. One of the earliest octagonal Aeolas, with the bell-shaped fretwork and red pads that are typical of the early metal-ended Wheatstones. Newly tuned to A-440. With its original black leather case.
  3. Unique Wheatstone Aeola 48 button Pre-WWI English Concertina in the Key of C Treble range (from G below middle C, to C three octaves above middle C). Falling within the "dear years" and "lost years" period of the Wheatstone company, this Ebony ended concertina has unique fretwork detail, and has a full rich tone. The instrument shows only very minor cosmetic blemishes and is in superior playing condition. The bellows are in excellent shape and all buttons are responsive. Concertina was completely looked over and serviced by the Button Box in 2013. Instrument was part of the collection at Barleycorn Concertinas until 2010, at which time it was imported to the United States. For a demo of the instrument, see the following YouTube video: https://youtu.be/DgymVJ-buSo Available for Skype calls for interested parties. $3600
  4. I am offering my lovely Wheatstone English 5-fold bellows Treble for sale (serial number 28103). I bought the concertina privately in 2010. It had been overhauled by Steve Dickinson, who keeps the C. Wheatstone & Co. brand alive, in 2007, and had only been lightly used until 2010 and never at all by me. Steve Dickinson's invoice lists the work he undertook as: "Action Rebuild; Reedwork Overhaul & Tune A=440 Hz in equal temperament; Thumb Strap; and, Valuation". I had good intentions to learn to play but I've ended up merely enjoying the concertina as its careful custodian and it's now time to let it go. I'm inviting offers over £1,700.
  5. I'm looking to buy my first english concertina today and I'm going to buy a Stagi English A48-S. The question is if I should choose tenor or treble(baritone is available as well but I don't want one too low). Is the treble too high and annoying or is it smooth and good for leads? Or should I buy a tenor instead? EDIT: I found some videos, and I think treble is a safe bet, you rarely go to the highest C anyways.
  6. This is one of the early Edeophones, as you can see by its retention of the Oval and Diamond cartouches from the New Model range, rather than the scrolls you normally find. It also has aluminium reed shoes which, as far as I can tell, make no difference at all to the sound (loud and sweet as you would expect of a wooden-ended Eddie) but do make it surprisingly light. Restoration has included new pads, valves, bushings and dampers. Woodwork has been repaired and re-finished, bellows re-bound, new straps fitted, and it has been tuned to modern concert pitch. It also comes with its original case, still serviceable after about 120 years. I'm looking for £1900, but will always consider interesting trade-ins.
  7. I’m new to Accordions , bought this from Ebay seller said it was ready to play and in perfect condition (60 bass Russian made) the bass sounds great but the treble keys are not working , any suggestions ? Video bellow : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0F4GjL58Ow
  8. I'm regretfully selling my Lachenal Edeophone treble EC. It dates back to the late 1920s and was beautifully restored in 2013 by Bill Crossland who mentioned that it had belonged to the wife of a Salvation Army missionary working in Cuba in the 20s and 30s. I've had it exactly a year during which time it has been played regularly but cosseted and has never left the house. It has a beautiful tone, is in tune (modern tuning) and looks wonderful with no issues. It has ebonised, French polished ends with no cracks. The bellows have 6 folds and are airtight. It has the original leather case, in poor condition and held together by black tape. I've kept it in a hard case which is not for sale. I'm selling purely to raise money for other projects and also because I feel it needs a better player than me to get the best out of it. I have a second concertina of inferior quality which meets my needs and can't justify keeping 2 excellent instruments. The asking price is £1,600 or the equivalent in euros, which includes postage within Europe. I'm not looking to make a profit and this just covers what I have put into it. Anyone interested who lives near La Rochelle in Western France, or is here on holiday, is welcome to visit to try it out. I can also send more photos and a basic soundfile. Dean
  9. For Sale: Wheatstone Aeola Treble, #27864 48 keys, 6 fold bellows, steel reeds, brass mounts, concert pitch, lovely tone, original leather case Original manufacture: May 8th, 1919 (http://www.horniman.info/DKNSARC/SD01/PAGES/D1P1150S.HTM) Refubished: 2009 by that nice Mr Gibb @ theboxplace - incl pads, valves, thumbstraps & retuning The concertina came to me from a lady who was sorting out her grandfathers effects - the only history I have is "he'd had it all his life" - but I doubt that was from new. You can see in the photos that the fretwork has slots for bowing levers. There is no mechanism and indeed there are no airholes in the actionboard base or the reedpan (i.e. it was built like this). Leather case is OK for storage but I'd recommend a new case if you're you going to be taking it out It's an excellent player - classic Aeola versatility, ready to go and just looking for the right person to make beautiful music with. Reason for sale: one in, one out! Price: £2700 incl UK delivery Location: Northumberland & occasionally elsewhere (ask!) Donation to C.Net - irrespective of sale. thanks Rob
