I had a metal ended Wheatstone tuned down to concert pitch. I noticed that certain notes were louder than expected when playing. Eventually I realised that if I started the note very quietly and gently increased the bellows pressure there would be a point where the volume increased suddenly. Looking inside I noted that the leather on that note was a cut down to length larger leather. On replacing this leather with one of the right dimensions the problem went away. I note this problem with other notes and that replacing the leather solves the problem

Hello, I'm looking to purchase a model of concertina maybe a little faster and more responsive than my own. I currently have a 30 button c/g rosewood lachenal. I was hoping to buy a suttner, carrol, wheatstone or jeffries. Let me know if anyone out there is looking to part with something along these lines. Cheers
