I have been cleaning out a storage room and found a concertina which we bought for my husband in the 1970s: it is a gorgeous, pristine instrument that was sold in a hard case, lined in a red velvety material. I remember he was teaching himself to play Irish, English folk music. It has no markings on the outside; ~2 straps, 2 finger supports looks like rosewood or walnut; ~24 white buttons on the left side, 24 on the right with an extra black button. ~It looks brand new, no imperfections. ~8 bellows ~6 sided ~Appears to match online with Wheatstone 48 buttons A friend who plays the concertina sent me; I suppose I need an appraisal and then perhaps I can make a sale. I would be most grateful for any info! Thanks so much in advance, Sue

For Sale: Wheatstone Aeola 48 button English Concertina. Serial #24873, Key of C. I purchased this Concertina from Barleycorn Concertinas in England, and recently (2013) had it serviced at The Button Box in Massachusetts. Falling within the dear and lost years periods of the Wheatstone company, this Ebony ended concertina has unique fretwork, and is in perfect playing condition. All buttons play clearly and in perfect pitch. I am located in the Western United States. I have never used this forum before, but am aware of the 2% donation policy. I am located in Montana but will be traveling to Southern California next week and can bring the instrument with me.

I have just dug out my father's concertina which he owned and played as a Salvation Army officer from the 1940's. I don't know anything about concertinas but have become interested as I realise that his is in good condition. It is a Lachenal Edeophone with 48 buttons and has a serial number of 58850. The leather box looks original too. Can someone tell me approximately when it may have been made and if it is valuable now?
