  1. SOLD!! Specifications: Jeffries layout accordion reeds riveted brass action Delrin domed buttons bushed key holes and action Wakker bellows (high end traditional concertina bellows) Hardshell case with red felt liner.
  2. Carroll Concertina #278, C/G 30-button. lt is the standard size in all black with a celtic tree endplate design and adjustable handlebars. I am the original owner of this instrument, I had it built towards the end of 2019. No leaks, holes, scratches, or damage of any kind. Occasionally the endplate screws need re-tightening, but when I asked the repair folks at the Button Box they told me it was nothing to worry about and is fairly normal with new instruments. Good volume, bright tone, and fast action, if I played more I would keep her, but I don't and she's too lovely to sit around and collect dust! Asking $5800 $5500 (+shipping), comes with hard case.
  3. Thank you Concertina.net. I made a donation through PayPal. I have a practically brand new Swan concertina that I recently bought from McNeela Music in Dublin. I have decided that the concertina is not the instrument for me so I am selling this concertina. It comes in a nice hard case. In case you don’t know the Swan is a 30 button C/G Anglo concertina with Wheatstone layout.
  4. This is a lovely anglo, 30 button, G-D. I bought it from an individual who got it from the Button Box. It is in very good condition, has a sweet sound. The box is a Jeffries, as is the fingering. The bellows were replaced with Dipper bellows. The reeds were replaced with Wheatstone reeds. I'm just not using it. $4000, may consider trade for baritone C/G... or... Located in California, US.
  5. I am looking for a 30 button Anglo concertina. I have just started playing and am making some headway. The wife is getting interested and I'd like to get her a nice beginner instrument. Money is tight so I can't afford most of the lovely instruments on here. If you have a good beginner instrument you want to get to a new home, please contact me. I'm in Canada, it would be nice to keep shipping manageable.
  6. A very nice comment on "The Concertina Diaires" tutor (Heather Greer). A buyer, who is from Ireland but now living in C&E Europe, while waiting for his copy of the book to arrive, worked his way through the sample pages from the book that are up on our website, www.IrishTunebook.com. "I have read your sample pages [on your website], and from these alone I have learned more, and more quickly, than all the other books that I have on this subject put together. Please feel free to use this comment in your advertisments." Colin A. Just thought I'd pass that nice comment along. Oh, and in the coming week I aim to post downloadable music, with 'fingerings' for 30-button Anglo (Wheatstone but you can modify as necessary for Jeffries), two nice jigs in D major that go together very nicely as a complementary 2-D set: 'Seamus Connolly's' and the lovely, twisty-turny, 'Rosemary Lane'. If you want to really major out on an all-D set, adding in Tobin's Jig makes for a good third jig to include.
  7. I am selling my Stagi W-15-MS which I have had for a few years. Right now it's in great playing condition and tune. When I first obtained it, there were the usual complaints...sticky buttons, some duff notes, etc. I gave it a make-over which included renewing the button retainers, taper-reaming the button holes to smooth and insure easy button travel, replaced the silvery grill 'cloth' with a fabric material, and did a thorough retune and re-set of reeds. I also lowered the button action a bit and enlarged the air button vent. This model features each reed plate being fastened by a screw, rather than waxed in. The instrument is now quite enjoyable to play, has a sweet tone, and has been my travel companion on many trips. . Compression is excellent, has the typical leather covered bellows, all intact, no leaks. Comes with a rather pedestrian, but clean and serviceable hard case. Would be a good instrument for a starter, or a good travel box. I will also offer a limited approval time (TBD), if not satisfied, buyer to pay for return shipping. Asking US$350.00 + shipping. Contact me via PM, and ask for a quote on shipping, or any other questions you may have. I live in the Northwest USA. Donation to the site will be made if sold through this medium.............................................................................................................................................. See photos attached, and sound sample (video link). Reason for selling: I have reached a stage in life where I am compelled to simplify and reduce my herd of instruments significantly. To this end, I have been slowly parting with some melodeons, stringed instruments, and now the Stagi. I also have a very fine hand-made Tedrow that I will retain as my sole concertina. 8. I am selling my Kensington anglo concertina. It is Numer 048 which I got from David Levine who purchased it from Dana Johnson in March, 2012. It is in perfect, like new condition. It comes in the original hard case – also in excellent condition – and with the original tool-kit that Dana provides with every concertina. It plays beautifully, is in perfect tune, and is a lovely instrument in every respect. I am asking 2.750€ for it but I am also open for reasonable offers. Shipping and insurance will be extra. Dana’s website, with more pictures, is http://www.kensingtonconcertinas.com/ Here is an excellent discussion about the instrument, from 2005: http://www.concertin...?showtopic=3004and here is the link to Davids post http://www.concertina.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=16149&hl=kensington Any questions? info(at)at-work.de
  9. Kensington 30 button anglo C/G modified Jeffries layout, Made 2003-4 Excellent condition. This concertina is from my early instruments which were not light. It has had the reed shoe ports brought current with the way I make them now, and has excellent response and sound from the lowest notes to the highest. This is a concertina reeded instrument, not a hybrid. Like all Kensingtons, it has a substantial dynamic range making it great for expressive airs and strong rhythms in Irish traditional playing. It is well able to hold it's own in a session, slow or fast. I am always amazed when I get one of my early instruments back in for tuning, how good they sound. When I first send them off, they have a little edge to the tone that smooths out with playing, and I don't get to hear them at their full potential. I made them to sound the way I like best, and I sold my excellent C/G Jeffries while I was still playing #005 because I never played the Jeffries. That would still be the case with this one. I do like my current one better, but not by that much. I will sell it on approval, but shipping must be paid by the buyer, with refund on receipt of the returned concertina. The price I am selling it at is only slightly above it's original price representing the upgrade work I've done on it and tuning. If you are in the neighborhood you can come by and try it. A picture of a concertina exactly like this is on the front of my website at www.kensingtonconcertinas.com. Dana Johnson Kensington Concertinas
