  1. no fedex thankfully. eeek quarantine Its tough waiting. I've got my maintainance manual and my tools waiting for it's arrival. I keep wanting to order pads, valves, bushing etc. Well at least I have my jackie to keep me company.
  2. The good news is my lachena has arrived. The bad news is it's stuck in customs Oh well according to the post office I should have it by tuesday...
  3. stephen : It was another thing I stumblled on whilst searching ebay.fr, don't even remember what I was searching for now but it wasn't elvis... relcollect: "who dares wins" more power to you, but the exploitation of the married broken male has to be stopped. It's bad enough that he is impotent but to emasculate him further... I just had a thought about cutting apron strings only to replace them with purse strings... Ivan: I don't think this can be classed as a dutch auction. Even as a newcomer to the instrument, I have an idea of the price of the repairs needed from the description and that's without knowing the state of the reeds... I think this person saw a way to make a quick buck not realising that the price doesn't reflect the condition of the concertina.
  4. Right now I wouldn't turn up that job offer. Not so much the money but I could sure do with the exercise
  5. okie now this is really desperate : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...item=5556218127
  6. you capitalist pig dog exploiter of the weak!! I'd been thinking of offering £60 but I really should be keeping my money to buy parts for my lachenal and ofcourse to buy an anglo...
  7. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ssPageName=WDVW I was watching this on ebay the last time it was listed, ended yesterday. It started as a buynow at £299, then went down to £249, then £219 and ended at £199. I was pretty sure it would be re-listed and here it is at £185. I wonder how low a bid could be made before the person feels insulted...
  8. thanks stephen - it went for $53 and I'd already decided against it at 36. I think I'll just have to wait til I've finished restoring my lavhenal ( if it ever arrives ) before investing in an anglo. There's one shop here in denmark that rents stagi's out so I might start with that.
  9. I watched you bid on the mayfair, was wondering why you didn't wait til the last 5 minutes to put a bid in... And if I was getting a scholer I'm not paying more than $50
  10. So in my search for an anglo I've found a cheap scholer and before commiting myself I'd like to hear what you have to say...
  11. I've just ordered a copy of the manual so now I can try out both
  12. sounds like you don't mean the mayfairs are a good buy chris..? or at least of good quality.
  13. with my failing hearing loud is not so much wanted as required But no I must resist so I can get an anglo.
  14. so the next question is how loud is it. The more I look at it the more I want it just for the novelty value.
  15. how are the horns placed in relation to the reeds? When I first saw it I had a vision of old car horns being hammered when you hit a key
  16. www.concertinaconnection.com new they are $220.
  17. ouch! Welp being a beginner on english I can highly recommend the jackie.
  18. a loosely related instrument : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...7308984605&rd=1 If it wasn't for my anglo lustings I'd buy this one just for the look of it.
  19. I solved most of my problems by reversing the finger plates. The problems I solved were the strain on my thumbs but I introduced a tendency to pinch the thumbstrap with my index fingers. So the answer me thinks is going to be a neckstrap and the finger plates in their original positions.
  20. As long as I'm poverty stricken. Funny thing is that I was looking for an anglo when I bought the lachenal on ebay So up til then I had 400 to play with
  21. cheapish is often whatever I can afford at any given moment But I'm thinking of a max of $200 and hopefully a lot less.
  22. apart from the occasional complaint about the various instruments competing for my attention
  23. ah but I skipped the stag night and went straight to the wedding so tis allowed
  24. tis the last time I share a whistle with anyone Did you get my mail about lessons Jim?
  25. That's what you get for visiting here When I first came here all I wanted was a new toy. You people with your fancy jeffries, crabbs, cross fingered, along the rows behind the head, english anglo duet, custom prototype, metal godzilla vs woodend godzilla, aboriginal bellows folds, irish madtrad, classical, seashanty all singing, all dancing morris germs got me infected. Peer pressure my tartan arse JUST SAY NO!
