  1. Bruce An off topic suggestion: You should edit out your email address from your post and put it in your personal profile instead. No point in advertising for spammers mate! Derek Edited because I am a plonker!
  2. Naaah, I dropped it and stood on it! It now resides in a bin (well plastic refuse bag really) on Machynlleth Station.......... Such is life (and the other thing) Derek
  3. Coincidentally, Shepherds Hey (Adderbury) was the first Morris dance I ever learned. Far too long ago for comfort. Derek
  4. I was out on a day by the seaside on saturday and came across the first concertina playing figure I had seen, in a charity shop for £! ! I promptly purchased it without thinking what I was going to do with it when I got it back to my boat. Needn't have worried though, I broke it on the train on the way back Derek Edut fir tepo
  5. Is this the twilight zone?!? Its a good job I read the posts first or I would have been accused of plagurism! The only difference is that my big white buttoned german anglo was a C/G! Derek.
  6. I know its off topic, but someone sent me this (It made me cringe!) "There was a man who entered a local paper's pun contest. He sent in ten different puns, in the hope that at least one of the puns would win. Unfortunately, no pun in ten did." Derek (in mask to protect from tomatoes and rotten eggs etc)
  7. Rain, Rain, Stay Away! (The Snow can please itsself!) Derek
  8. Now then, Jim! Please refer to the subtitle of this thread! Derek
  9. Well Done Mate, I sold a Lachenal to Chris some years ago, he said then that they were fine boxes. It certainly stood me in good stead for a number of years. Derek
  10. I would hazzard a guess that the majority of Jeffries owners (including me) are just grateful that they are lucky enough to own one. Derek
  11. I live not far from your birthplace and can attest to the exceptional quality of the beer produced there. Derek (licking his lips) As to drinkable Canal Water, the Llangollen canal provides about 8 million gallons a year to the water supplies of the north Midlands... Ed for typo
  12. THey work ok for me, Rod. Great Pics Derek
  13. There is a one word solution to all your problems, Helen MOVE!! Derek
  14. I hope not Jim! The morris goes out on Thursdays! Derek PS Wait till the global warming gathers pace. I've applied for a job on the London to Birmingham Ferry!
  15. It made me smile, Morgana and (bonus!) no pop-ups! Derek
  16. The first of May is the beginning of Summer in England, no matter WHAT the prevailling weather conditions are at the time! That being said, we had a beautiful warm day with plenty of sunshine. Derek
  17. Dunno mate, I haven't sniffed it in the boat. The boat (as far as I am aware) doesn't smell of canal water! The canal water smells sweet enough where I moor, well most of the time anyway.... Derek J That is meant to be a smilie with a snorkel.
  18. Had a surreptitious sniff of my concertina over the weekend, smelt of shoe leather and beer and smokey pubs. The leather smell was significant, the rest was understandable, especially as I was in a smokey pub drinking beer at the time..... Derek
  19. It's become something of a tradition among my morris freinds. On day tours and the like, there is always quite a selection of home made sloe gin (also damson gin and even one time raspberry vodka!) usually offered in those smaller plastic bottles you get "lilt" in. It certainly eases the throat for singing, but I'm not so sure about the effect on concertina playing. I tend to give up rather early in the day on these occaisions! Derek
  20. Good for you, Jeff! You can celebrate your achievements here mate, we are all in varying stages of learning. Derek edited for typos (how can you make so many mistakes in two lines?)
  21. Glad I could be of help, Mark. For the record, being the 1st of May and the beginning of Summer, it was large quantities of foaming English Ale! (interspersed with Sloe Gin and Navy Rum for the singing voice). Derek NB Please reply quietly, the head is still not quite the ticket!
  22. Mark I've spent the bank holiday weekend alternately drinking and thinking about your post above, but I still can't work it out. What were you doing with a dog up your kilt?!? Derek
