Well, if anyone is interested in buying a concertina in the Netherlands, I have one for sale too. It's a 1920 raised metal-ended 48 key Wheatstone treble concertina, serial number 28605, model 22. (See my avatar). In very good condition and tuned in concert key. Same price as the one in the Amsterdam shop: €2300. Inquiries welcome. Photo's available. Location: The Hague, Netherlands.

Spotted this concertina today in the Musée de la Bataille des Ardennes/Museum of the Battle of the Ardennes (La Roche en Ardenne, Belgium).

Look here for a map of Dutch concertina player's locations. Nobody in Amsterdam (but not everyone is present on this map). You could post at the Concertina Nederland forum: here. There's more to find on that site about concertina players, concerts, etc. in Holland (and Belgium). At this time, the calendar for May only shows an event at Nijmegen (that's not near Amsterdam).

Incurable tone deafness exist. According to Wikipedia: "Amusia refers to a number of disorders which are indicated by the inability to recognize musical tones or rhythms or to reproduce them. Amusia can be congenital (present at birth) or be acquired sometime later in life (as from brain damage). " I recommend reading Oliver Sachs' Musicophilia.

This one is likely to be a Non Pareil (or Nompariel - sic - in an old Lachenal brochure I found on the WWW): . The brochure says: AMBOYNA, all pertaining to exterior finish tastefully matched, tempered steel reeds as "The Excelsior," and all essential requisites of a truly genuine Instrument. Ca. 1895.

Possibly Frederica Weichsell, 1745-1786, a pupil of J.C. Bach in London, or Elizabeth Weichsell, 1768-1818, who later used the name of her husband, Billington. I'm not sure whether Elizabeth was the daughter of Frederica. More about Elizabeth at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_Billington

Actually, it is "Hammerschmidt" (without 'e'). See about him: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andreas_Hammerschmidt It seems to me that it concerns a composition from Hammerschmidt. Hence the mentioning of Hammerschmidt's Fest-, Bus- und Danck-Lieder, 1658 as source. If it was a composition of J.S. Bach, it would have a BWV number (Bach-Werke-Verzeichnis); but there's no such number mentioned. If Bach was only the arranger of the composition in the Bach Chorale Book, but you don't use his arrangement but your own, you can name Hammerschmidt as composer, and yourself as arranger. Are you buying the hard case for another concertina? The Jackie comes in its own hard case. Edited: Sorry, ignore this post. When I bought a Jackie two years ago, it came with a hard case, but I've seen that they now ship it with a soft gig bag.

Well, probably this is not a solution for a 64k oct EC, but: for a common 48k EC, like my Wheatstone model 22, I found a small but sturdy case at www.concertinaconnection.com for €50 (about GBP 35, USD 64). To fit the Wheatstone perfectly, my wife made four extra blocks in the corners (foam inside). She even made a small pouch in it (not on the photo's) for two screwdrivers (the Starrett 559A and 559B I bought from www.micro-tools.com after reading the Proper screwdriver thread on this forum).

This is another scam, but of the same kind. This Aeola was sold on eBay on May 20 for GBP 1920, see http://cgi.ebay.com/WHEATSTONE-AEOLA-56-KE...1QQcmdZViewItem And it is now offered again by a China scammer, Buy-it-now offer. Each time, the name of the scammer is different. This time it is gj54jj. Maybe he registered himself on Feb. 16, 2006, a hundred times or so. Each time, the feedback is (0) of course.

eBay has removed the item. Rather quick, took about one day. The link in my original post doesn't work anymore. This China guy had several other musical instruments for sale too. Probably all scams.

I was surprised , of course, to see that the same Wheatstone (even the same number) that I bought yesterday from Chris Algar, now is for sale in China for much less ! Thanks, but ... The Dark Isle was not the tune that inspired me. It was not known to me before (shame on me, but its only recently that I entered the folk song-world). The reason for starting this thread was: finding out if the tune in my mind is an existing tune ... if not, may I call myself a composer? If so, who is writing the words for the Unknown Lemon song? (Could start with: There's a tune in my head ... And it won't go away ...)
