  1. don't know any films but I do know a kids tv programme http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ZN-HQqpZ3lg
  2. No, this is quite normal!!! I believe the key to unlocking the potential of the Anglo is to get both hands working together. It means slow progress at the outset, but gives the "building blocks" which can then be used for more complex tunes in the future. I've had a pupil visiting over the last few months, and I've been using him as a "guinnea pig" on a few teaching ideas (I have to be careful, since I know he reads this Forum!). We are concentrating on using both hands on relatively simple, but nice, tunes. Regards, Peter. I think I set too high a goals for myself. My mum keeps reminding me that I've only been playing for just over a week and I've only practiced that tune for 3 days. But it feels like much longer to me. I've got to be a bit more patient.
  3. I'm just finding it hard to get my left and right hand to do different stuff at the same time. *silly brain of mine* and its really fustrating me. plus I'm not sure how it should sound a lot of the time. attempting and failing to read the music I came up with a completely different tune first off till I found the track on the tune-o-tron.
  4. I like all the traditional stuff...but I also like modern music (well modernish...popular stuff like the beatles etc.) which people around me would know better than the trad stuff and I would love to try and play some of that. But I'm not sure how to.
  5. how does moving to G make it all on one hand? I'm just following what's written down I don't know how to choose what buttons are best.
  6. no I write right handed, but I eat left handed, sew left handed and, tend to play instruments left handed. Weird huh? Thanks for the info. Wish I could get good enough to mix n match. I'm surprised no ones tried it before. thanks.
  7. I just have a tendancy to play instruments left handed. lol! Plus I think it sounds nicer.
  8. Before I drove myself and everyone at home slightly nuts playing twinkle little star and frere jaques over and over again....I tried another tune. after 3 days practicing http://www.soundlantern.com/UpdatedSoundPa...2&Path=null
  9. So is there any rule in say..erm..for example that you can't play the chords on the right and the tunes on the left?
  10. ok...I wanted to know (its probably a really obvious question). I know there's Irish style and English style for playing but is there certain songs for certain styles or can you play any song in either style?
  11. when reading the thread title I thought it said Concertina FAQ. lol!
  12. you could always record yourself playing one thing and then play it back and accompany yourself. or is that cheating? I could have learnt the piano...but I thought it was too...normal. lol!
  13. I'm being nosey again ;P SO what made you want to learn the concertina? Who inspired you? Did you have any goals when you started?
  14. No, no! You mean Morecambe and Wise. Eric's memorial is just down the road from here so I couldn't let you get away with that lol! I soooo can't spell this afternoon.
  15. My quote of the year is from Morcombe and Wise...."I'm playing all the right notes.....just not nessarily in the right order." lol!
  16. It was already in my faves someone on another forum pointed it out coz they know I like Monty Python.
  17. My boss told me the other day he used to play the accordian...badly (his words not mine) lol!
  18. I was telling the people at work about how I was learning the concertina and I showed them the video of me playing twinkle little star and they were all 'ooh, looks complicated' and 'That's a lot of buttons'. I think they were impressed with my megre offering. lol! Just wanted to share..no ones ever been intrested in anything I'm doing before.
  19. Ok...well I just had a fab day yesterday and I wanted to share that before I burst I'm really buzzing with enthusiasm now and am going to get down properly to practicing concertina. 20. There should be some concertinas there (anglos) for you to try, but bring your own too, as there might be a queue for the EATMT ones. In any case I should quite like to see it now we've heard all about it here I had a great time. I'm getting on ok with the songs you showed me..couldn't wait to get home and try them. lol! ooh I have some photo's/vids shall I post them here of the day?
  21. nails cut now......It feels odd..I keep dropping stuff. lol! oh does having double jointed fingers help with reaching buttons as well?
  22. This was my response to noise complaints from my family while on vacation at a summer cottage recently. I hasten to point out that I'm playing my cheapo concertina, was just learning the tune, and have since worked out a smoother alternate fingering! Also, I had to swat the odd fly! The tune is "Rakes of Mallow". http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=R-GvbQB4bIo lol! I didn't know sheds like that really existed thought you only got them in cartoons not after 10.30pm apparently
  23. A recent convert....I use macs at work...and only recently changed from pc to mac at home after becoming tired of it crashing every 5 minutes.....macs are so much less hassle. thanks...now I just have to work out what button makes what note. lol!
  24. Why not? There is a MIDI version here: http://www.alpha-programming.co.uk/audio/midi/ It's under television themes. It's in D, and has a fairly simple melody line. Right click, and save as will put it on your computer. I use this MIDI player to display the file in music notation http://www.notation.com/DownloadNotationPlayer.htm Thanks Leo the notation player is a pc thing...I ..erm...have a mac.
