  1. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Craft-Decal-or-Trans...1742.m153.l1262 Found this stuff....is this the right thing?
  2. I'll have to go find some transfers...ooooh maybe I can add some flames...then get some allstar pumps to match. *goes to serch ebay* I have some 'model' paint left over from my brothers airfix kit...would that be better? edit: was looking through ebay and spotted this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/4-books-of-faux-gold...id=p3286.c0.m14 maybe I should use some gold leaf? I'm gonna have to pop down the DIY shop and the art shop ans see what I can get my hands on.
  3. Having such a plethera of 'experts' helping me out on this forum..I should end up with a pretty 'eclectic' style.
  4. that is suspiciously accurate...I got a jacket and a hat yesterday. lol! I got the jacket coz my old one doesn't fit coz I've lost weight....and it is beautiful...if anything its vintage style
  5. managed to get a bit faster http://www.soundlantern.com/UpdatedSoundPa...3&Path=null
  6. £50 is my weekly 'disposable income'. the amount I allow my self to spend on 'fun' stuff....didn't get off to a good start having gone to see proms in the park this weekend..I had a look round camden marked and spend £30 on a jacket...naughty me. I'll start proper next week...promise
  7. Wait for this in March It's closer and you'll have time to get better. http://www.eatmt.org.uk/melodeons_in_mid_s..._&_more.htm Not that it helps, but I'll be there. Think you've just missed this one http://www.eatmt.org.uk/traditional_music_day.htm Chas Oh I went to the traditional music day every other instruments I've tried to learn I've given up on...so that is kind of a disadvantage.
  8. I'll have find a big folk festival to go to It was £50 a week rather than a month....12x50 is....erm...wait a mo just got to get out my calculator. oooh, I'll take a look at that.
  9. Thanks for the advice...at least someone is taking it seriously Is there another kind of paint that would be better suited? oooh....that's a brilliant idea. I bet it looks fabulous.
  10. Yeah..I made a breakthrough. Using the metronome on garageband I've managed to go from playing 75 tempo to 105...my target is 120. Now I've just got to try and play without mistakes when someone else is in the room.
  11. Mind you, you could always "go the whole hog", like this guy: Firefly Accordions. Apparently there's a Hohner 114 one-row in there somewhere... Wow! That's what I call futuristic looking...its like some alien accordian from another planet. I wonder if they play those on Mars? My postcode is boring Its the graphic designer in me trying to get out. lol!
  12. I know its a 'cheap' one but I was thinking I'd love to customize it by painting a design on it (I erm..customize my clothes quite a lot). Is this wise? And if it is would acrillic paint be ok? Its only the wood bit I want to paint. This is the graphic I was thinking of I thought it might make it easily identifiable as mine.
  13. That's a handsome box and by the looks, sounds and price of it a good value. that's definatly going on my maybe list. ??
  14. Is there a way of 'reserving' one at an existing price for a years time...without having to pay the whole price when you order? (yes I'm rather nieve about this stuff..the limit of my cyber shopping involves ebay and amazon)
  15. I would probably buy new as I don't like buying secondhand. what's pushing up the price?
  16. I was wondering if it would be feasible to have a rating system for the tunes so I could easily see if they were for beginners, intermediate or experienced players. Or a difficulty rating 1-10 or something.
  17. There's so much choice...not sure what to choose. (it sounds very shallow but I want a 'pretty' one. lol!)
  18. I have a cunning plan....I'm currently putting by £50 a week and hopfully in a year I will be worthy enough (and saved enough) to buy a more expensive better quality concertina. Is this a good plan? I thought it might be good motivation for me to have a 'reward' if I keep at it and get half decent at playing. btw. are concertina prices going up or down?
  19. oh you gotta have a name! or else me and clemmy will feel sad! Well I was thinking of calling it Scotty (well it seemed the nearest male name to Scarlatti cue Star Trek jokes) LDT, I beg to differ. Musical instruments seem to be definitely female. At least, when I take one on my knee and squeeze it or stroke it, my wife gets jealous. She really hates the autoharp, because I hug it. Cheers, John Oh my ones male...it prefers it when I slouch on the sofa to play and its a bit lazy I have to 'nag' it to work....but once it knows what its doing its fine.
  20. Funniest (funny unexpected) thing happened my grandad was looking through the concertina tutor book and suddenly starts singing one of the songs in it (grandfather Clock) ..and I'm like 'you know the tune?', he says 'Yes' so I asked him to let me record him singing it.....now I have another tune to learn He didn't know any of the others though
  21. I'm finding the later in the day I practice the easier I find it. Is this odd?
  22. coz the football was on, next door was making a lot of noise till late....so I played my concertina as loud as possible to even things out. lol!
  23. you found a name in the end. sure did Lady D!! yours got a purty name yet missy? Not yet...(I know ships and machines are 'female' but)I think its a 'male' concertina though. Plus people think I'm odd enough getting a concertina...naming it too...might be a step too far. lol!
  24. You've hit the source of the question there....is it the challenge or relaxation that makes a tune a favorite?
