  1. *shush* don't let everyone know. Hmmm....what rain related tunes are there? only ones I can think of is 'the rain it rains' and Lemon Jelly's 'Nice weather for ducks' ("all the ducks are swimming in the water..faldoraldoraldo...")
  2. Concertinas and the weather. For some odd reason every time I play/practice my concertina it rains! Does this happen to you?
  3. another video what would you do if I played out of tune? Would you stand up and walk out on me? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Xtkr5nwa8w guess the tunes
  4. I play Beatles and Disney songs...badly.
  5. I've been listening along as I work..sounded great. (been tapping my foot along) The updated lyrics to Rigs of the Times were clever.
  6. Maybe someone should contact her and suggest this forum?
  7. I decided I wanted to put the scales I've been doing (till boredom sets in) to use...so I put one in there. I can't wwrite music so I kinda just wrote it down in my own kinda notation....and recorded the audio. Still think I should have made both a little longer. Maybe I should call one 'two steps forward' and the other 'one step back'. lol! LDT, have you ever tried augmenting your tunes with a few two or three note left-hand chords ? Relatively easy to do on an Anglo. That's where we have the advantage over brass, woodwind and other single note instrumentalists who have no choice in the matter and are dependent upon others to provide any harmony. Bertram Levy is quoted as calling his Anglo a 'laptop orchestra' ! Not a bad description. that is what I get stuck on every time.

  9. Sorry I let the cat out of the bag LDT, I thought I'd read your post on here but it must have been on melnet or spibo. Pete That's ok...you didn't know...I didn't say it was a secret it was on the spiers & boden forum...I think...my memory is terible.
  10. I actually find meldoen much easier...but then for me melodeon is like sweets and the concertina like vegetables..you know its good for you but unless you grit your teeth and eat it even though you hate the taste you'll never get used to it. Is East Anglia part of Essex? ;P Well I gave it a go....these were the best results...I was really afraid of subcochously just using another tune I'd heard elsewhere without realising. version 1 http://www.onmvoice.com/play/7555 version 2 http://www.onmvoice.com/play/7556 opinions welcome.
  11. Sounds like you're playing Concertina and accordion at the same time! That must be cumbersome with the straps and all. Let me guess: the concertina is played with your hands and the accordion is played with your feet? That was my spare pair of hands. lol! just played the bits I could play on each and put them together in garageband...I have trouble with getting lost down the squeeky end of the melodeon so I'd thought I'd do that bit on concertina.
  12. I thought the idea was to play sufficiently loudly so that your "audience" could hear you. I am the audience. The other's are critics. LDT, Am I the only one who was not paying attention when you told us the details of the new instrument that you have ordered ? i was going to wait till it was in my hands and announce it. Along with a video and pictures. Been trying to decide what the inorgoral tune should be. Any suggestions?
  13. some more http://www.onmvoice.com/play/7548 Mairis wedding http://www.onmvoice.com/play/7549 tralee goal can you spot the bits where I'm playing concertina?
  14. only uploaded today

  16. so how's your 'magic'? How far have you got? I have to be carefull with bellows anyway in order to play quietly so no one but me can hear.
  17. you see the other tunes I play but I don't Play....its all from writing out the button numbers' rather than actually off by heart. Hi m3838, you've obviously not seen LDT's recent post announcing that her brand new Tedrow will be arriving any day now. Progress should increase dramatically after that! I wouldn't say any day gotta end final payment first.... takes 3 working days to transfer apparently.
  18. I know its off topic but I like the poster typography....I've been experimenting with retro and vintage styles lately...nice example.
  19. Funny you should say that because I was going to write to you and say that your Bobby Shafto recording shows definite improvement. You are coordinating your left hand and right hands much better. You just need to practice more so that you do not have to even think about what you are doing. We all reach certain plateau's and it takes time to get to the next one. Ah my little holiday vid. I still keep messing it up when it goes to the LH side. Nearly a year and I'm still stuck on the one tune Bobbie Shaftoe...can't seem to process anything more sophisticated..so you are ahead of me.
  20. Two steps forward, one step back..no not a dance just how I feel at the moment. Everytime I think i make progress..I haven't actually...or not in any useful way. I keep getting stuck in the same rut. And when I try to take the figurative 'training wheels' off I fall on my face. I know, I know its probably one of those annoying plateau's again....but I do seem to have more plateau's than progress. >
  21. managed to get it working, once I installed the plug in had to on the audio's page click on 'PLAY this recording using your usual player'
  22. grrr...it won't play on my mac..keeps telling me I'm missing a plug in then won't install the plugin. >
  23. Dime Bars? yep. isn't that a tounge twister?
  24. Also known as Road Pizza on the half shell. crunchy on the outside..chewy on the inside..armadillos! (ok maybe I'm the only one who remembers that advert?)
  25. what on earth is a peccadillo? I have a pic of both my squeezeboxes and a short 'video' of me playing on my mobile so I can demonstrate what it is.
