  1. I added the another link to the tune to the comment above, I hope it will work for you. If not, I will try youtube later. Thank you for letting me know. Yes that was the same tune as Brendan's Fancy.
  2. Yes indeed. In the compilation CD "Farewell to Lissycasey" the late John Kelly senior played under that name. And I just noticed that there is another name for this tune "The Blacksmith's Charm". http://johnkellycapelstreet.ie/project/the-blacksmiths-charm/
  3. To celebrate world concertina day, I played another tune called "Concertina Hornpipe" which I learned from John Joe Casey CD long time ago.
  4. Just FYI, The button layout for D row can be found on page 24 of the "The Westmeath Hunt" booklet. https://www.itma.ie/shop/the-westmeath-hunt The booklet also includes the music, but not the fingering. If you need a full button layout of 20 buttons, https://anglopiano.com/ will be useful (select DA20).
  5. It is not 20 button but my 26+2 button early Jones (S/N 1213) have bushed buttons. But this could be a later modification. Most of Jones concertinas in the concertinamueum have un-bushed buttons except for C-349. https://concertinamuseum.com/CM00349.htm
  6. I think "The Roscommon Reel" and "The Rookery". But I may be wrong. Please correct me if I am wrong.
  7. I own Henry Harley C/G with rectangular bellows. Since the C row is a half step lower than the G row, I can't directly compare it to other instruments, but if I play along the row I don't see a big difference in playability.
  8. Just FYI, Theo now lists 24b Jones with brass reeds in your price range. If brass reeds are OK for you It might be an option. https://theboxplace.co.uk/product/jones-24/
  9. I too cannot compare but the "Dubliner" was advertised here 12 years ago: https://web.archive.org/web/20101119173449/http://allaboutaccordions.com/allabout-product.php?parent_id=239 Before that they sold "Dublin" (not Dubliner) concertina, but that was made by Harry Geuns and completely different model I Suppose: https://web.archive.org/web/20100203062345/http://www.allaboutaccordions.com/allabout-product.php?parent_id=239 The "Clare" came to their website from 2014: https://web.archive.org/web/20140403005000/http://www.allaboutaccordions.com/allabout-product.php?parent_id=239 The "Dubliner" has been renamed the "Garwood" for a while, but it seems to be a different model from the "Clare".
  10. The words "bellows" and "bowing" reminds me of Cécilium. But this is off-topic. https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/504434
  11. Same here in Japan. While I forgot to cancel my order, Amazon sent a copy to me. Just arrived.
  12. I got a message from Dan: So, I will wait for the publication.
  13. You can also see the ex-Crabb's workshop, although it is only the exterior of the building. https://goo.gl/maps/GG8LRRUrJk6RjAZM7 158 Liverpool Road, Islington, London
  14. Just FYI amazon (US) had them back in stock. I just ordered my own copy.
  15. I once saw 1428, 5042, 5131 and 7435 on eBay and Barleycorn. All of them had numbered keys and simpler fretwork. And 109854 and 148802 with (slightly different) Butler label. As you think, I too think that on eBay is early Lachenal.
  16. Thank you Peter for letting us know ! I checked Junior Crehan's CD "The last house in Ballymakea", and found that he relates these two tunes (Caoineadh an tSagairt-The Priest Lament/Caislean an Oir-The Golden Castle) . He also talked about the story of these two in that track but my English hearing ability is not so good that I could not hear well...
  17. Slightly different version. But perhaps this one ? https://thesession.org/tunes/2170
  18. Cormac Begley plays one in this recent clip. If my memory serves me correctly it was not a 20 button model (30?) though.
  19. Or, Concerto for concertina & strings, Op. 44 composed by James Cohn ? I have a CD played by Wim Wakker, but I have never seen any pics or videos.
  20. Yes I received mine a few days ago (digital version). I slightly regret that I should have got the paper version as this issue contains a short report of the local concertina meeting that I wrote. As far as I know there are only two members in Japan.
  21. I cannot agree more. And thank you for sharing your good memory. I didn't get a chance to meet Joe Ryan, but I had a great time chatting with Gerdie in 1999 or 2000. If my memory serves correctly, that is Sonny Murray.
  22. Thank you Peter for the lovely photo. It will be 17 years next month since Gerdie passed away. I will keep playing this tune as well.
