  1. I bought a Wheatstone duet from a wonderful fellow in Spain. The tracking says it cleared US Customs in New York on June 5th. No updates since then on the USPS site. Is this normal? Are they learning to play it or what? Connie
  2. All the dedicated, diehard Maccann players in the world, and nobody bid on this? Maybe the playability of even the Maccann system runs out after about 72 keys? I do hear that Maccann handles higher button count better than Crane (gets too "tall" or Hayden (corners are hard to reach). Or maybe this beast is just too big and heavy for anyone to enjoy playing? I'm not razzing the Macccann community -- just surprised that nobody jumped on this opportunity. And I've seen lots uglier --Mike K. Yeah, but ugly AND expensive?
  3. Isn't it just!! I think it is UUUUGGGGLLLLYYY! lol
  4. Jackie has sold. Rochelle has sold. Thanks! Connie
  5. Hi Dirge, It looks like shipping costs for both of them to NZ would be about $85 US$. My figure checks out against the price that Concertina Connection charges for international shipping of $40 ea. So, pretty much a wash on that issue when deciding on new vs. barely touched. Sorry no, I meant either/or rather than both. Hi, No problem. Shipping for either one would cost just under $55 US$. Thanks again for your interest.

  7. Hi Dirge, Thank you for your interest. Both are still available. I will have to box and weigh them to get an estimate. Will get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks again, Connie
  8. I've had several inquires about each box, and have figured shipping for several people who are still considering it. Right now, though, both are still up for grabs. Forgot to mention in my ad that I will accept certified checks, money orders, or personal checks (item ships when check has cleared). For your convenience, I can accept Paypal, both cash and credit card funded payments, but I'd need to add 3% to cover the fees that they charge me. re: shipping--I am experienced at shipping delicate/unusual items. I collect and trade antique sewing machines which are very heavy and tricky to ship so that they arrive in one piece. These will be packed carefully. My basic rule of thumb is: it is ready to ship only when the box could be dropped from a second-story building without damaging the contents. ;o) Thanks! Connie
  9. Jackie has sold. Rochelle has sold! Thanks everyone! Both are like brand new, complete with their original soft cases and tutors. I'm asking $285 each plus actual shipping costs from Ohio zip 45005. If you buy both of them, I'd be willing to take less as a package deal. (Note: A donation will gladly be made to Cnet upon sale) I bought these because I wanted to see what the Anglo and English concertinas were like to play compared to the duet. I chose these particular boxes because I wanted a quality beginner box. Check out the web pages of the maker for complete details: http://www.concertinaconnection.com/jackie-jack.htm and http://www.concertinaconnection.com/rochelle%20anglo.htm These boxes are widely regarded as the best choice for a beginner. And at this price, you can't go wrong. I find it all fascinating, but I now realize that I do not have enough spare time to study more than one and have decided to stick with duet. Send me a private message if you're interested. Thanks!
  10. Of course! That must be it... Nothing better than selling an item for 1,600% more than the estimate. I'm guessing that the auction house will start looking at concertinas in a whole new light. They might even get a flood of consignments. lol Connie
  11. Maybe... That's a hefty enough price! Maybe that Coronet hat was worth a fortune. ??? Connie
  12. We all win............. It's been cancelled. Here's the note I got from ebay: We removed the listing and canceled your bid because it appears that the seller's account was used by someone without the seller's permission. The seller's trading privileges might be temporarily suspended while we investigate. Because of privacy concerns, we can't share more details. We canceled this listing to protect you and the member whose account was used without permission.
  13. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...bayphotohosting Not seen anything with insides like this before. But then again, I'm a total newbie. Incidentally, with the coaching of Dirge and Greg Jowaisas (and several others on this list), I'm now the proud owner of a 1918ish 46 key Lachenal "New Model" McCann Duet with raised ebony ends, metal buttons, steel reeds, and 7 bellows. Purchased from Chris Algar. Thanks everybody! It really wails.
  14. We all win............. It is now over 4 Grand. I wonder, though, if the brand new high bidder isn't someone from ebay bidding in order to catch this scammer. After all, what good does it do to cancel the auction before the crime has been committed? The actual crime is accepting payment for something you don't have. Nah, that can't be it. That would be the sensible thing to do.
