  1. Mine is for sale again. I sent you a personal message. Paul
  2. The one I have for sale is currently on hold--I tried to email you directly but it wouldn't go through. Good luck on your search.
  3. This instrument is on hold pending approval.
  4. 26 Button Lachenal, steel reeds, wooden ends, new seven-fold bellows and a complete overhaul and tuning by Button Box. This instrument has an unusually sweet sound, and good karma to boot, as it has been played in many a Chicago session alongside some great musicians. If you want a traditional vintage concertina in very good shape, and you aren't worried about four extra buttons that you don't need anyway, this may be the box for you. This concertina was listed on the Button Box website for 2,400. I'm selling it here for 1,700 with a Button Box case. I live in Chicago if anyone wants to stop by and try it out.

  6. Congratulations on your new instrument. I had a smaller thrill a month ago when I got my old trusty 26 button Lachenal back from the Button Box (new bellows, mainly). But I have a Modal A next to your new Porsche. Maybe I'll see you at a Chicago session sometime.
  7. Here is my way of approaching a session: I ask permission, I don't take a seat near the stars, I play only the tunes I know well, I tend to play these more at the beginning and end of the session (the middle seems to be when the high speed reels take over), I listen hard, and I have a beer or two. The advice I would give anyone is: know your tunes well, have fun playing them, and get used to just sitting and listening when you don't know the tune well enough to play along or the tempo is too fast.
  8. I live in Chicago and have taken lessons with John Williams. He's a good teacher and a nice guy. He's also a mind-numbingly fantastic player with a wealth of musical knowledge. Welcome to the Middle West.
