  2. warcorresponent - oh, sorry - p.m. = personal message. to do that, you click on my user name on this forum, scroll to the bottom of my profile page, and click "send message". alternatively, you could send me a message on ebay. also click on my user name there. azalin - i'll pass on the compliment. thanks for the names too. i knew that was the skylark - i play that tune! - just didn't occur to me at the time. i wasn't intending using those as file names, just forgot they would appear like that on box.net.
  3. I've just added 2 recordings of this concertina to the ebay listing. Recorded today in my kitchen; the player is a friend, who wants to remain anonymous. No e.q. or f.x., only natural kitchen reverb!
  4. i am indeed in co. clare, and it's currently lashing it down! warcorrespondent, please p.m. me.
  5. I've just listed this pre-war Wheatstone anglo on ebay. Item number: 190315378936 Metal ends, steel reeds in dovetailed frames - one of the better ones. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...alenotsupported I've just added 2 recordings of this concertina to the ebay listing. Recorded today in my kitchen; the player is a friend, who wants to remain anonymous. All the best, Dave
  6. hi patrick, gan = without, ainm = name. i once played in a concert in cape town, where we had been asked the name of the group over the phone, and ended up on the programme as "the ganannim band". at least they didn't write "gan anam", which would mean "without soul", or "without life, or liveliness"!
  7. thanks for fixing that link for me! i just copied & pasted from the browser address bar - maybe it didn't work because i was signed in?
  8. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0301217939 ends saturday night g.m.t.
  9. Just edited the above post to add sound samples. All the best, dave
  10. 1953 Wheatstone Anglo http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=190289659252 Donation to C.net if one of ye is the auction winner. Sorry that my first post on the site is to flog an instrument! I'm a trad player, not on concertina though. A few members here know me. EDIT! sound samples available here: http://www.box.net/shared/22hyy6qe33 and http://www.box.net/shared/vcqxagbsfi Recorded on a single Rode NT2-A condenser mic about a foot in front of the bellows (and the same distance from the computer!), no compression, e.q., or any other processing (I managed to restrain myself). The player asked to remain anonymous. All the best, dave
