56 key ebony Aeola tenor-treble serial number 30460, produced in 1925, it is in excellent condition. I purchased it around 1985 and it has been a pleasure all these years. A previous owner must have been a smoker but after 35 years the cigarette odor is 99% dissipated. It was last serviced by Greg Jowaisas in 2014 when he gave it new valves, new softer pads, shimmed the chamois seals, changed all the springs, fine tuned it and lightened the action for best response. It must have been serviced by the Dippers before coming to the USA as it has their stamp internally. Aside from the occasional reed that has to coaxed back to working (easily done at home as others have described) there have been no issues. My understanding is that the wooden ended instruments tend towards the quiet side as compared to the metal ended ones and this Aeola would confirm that. It is in equal temperament One curious thing is that the D3 sharp reed on the left side has at some time in the past (originally?) been replaced with a B2 flat one. It made no difference to me as I never had a use for either one and there still was the enharmonic E3 flat on the right. Asking $4750. Original Wheatstone case included but it is not in pristine shape though certainly serviceable. Next is a six sided Wheatstone metal ended treble a model 21 also made in 1925, serial number 30878. It has been in my possession for about 31 years. A family friend, knowing I had an interest in concertinas, gave it to me after inheriting it from a deceased uncle. It was in terrible shape. Sent to the Dippers and had a complete overhaul including new bellows. It has been lightly played and as a result is in the same excellent playing condition today as when I received it back from the Dippers. In all these years I only had to open it once to free a stuck reed. I once made an attempt to clean up the yellow badge on the right hand side and in the process partially wore down the lettering saying "Wheatstone Inventors London". Tuned in equal temperament. It has a bright sound with good balance between high and low notes. Perhaps not as fast a response as an Aeola but I guess that is to be expected. Asking $2650 includes hard case by Dippers. Ideally I would like to post either photos on this site or provide a link to another site hosting the photos. I have exhausted my vocabulary of naughty words today in attempting to do just that. My ebony Aeola TT has the same "Harold Mellor" stamp. I'm curious if his stamp can be found in other instruments. At any rate he had his hands on two good ones at some time.

I bought a pair of black leather work gloves from my local Army, Navy store. The leather is fairly thin and easy to work with. Cut strips about 3 inches long and a bit wider than twice the width of the thumb strap. Wrapped it around the thumb strap with the free ends facing the tips of my thumbs and then sewed them together. A needle nose pliers or surgical needle holder is helpful. Best regards, Gerry

I was able to get EasyABC running but seem unable to save the page to the document or music folder. Am attempting to create folders where I can easily access multiple jigs in midi versions in one folder and then another folder of polka midis, etc., etc. Can this be done with EasyABC? Or with any other abc converter to midi? As mentioned Barfly and the newer macs don't like each other. Will try Skink later today. Thanks for the suggestions, Gerry

For years I've used the Tune-0-Tron in my Dell PC with a program called MidiNotate. It was easy to use, you could visualize the score as it sounded, and easily change keys among other features. It was helpful for me in learning new tunes and in adapting tunes to the concertina. The Dell PC died, got an Apple Macbook, can not use MidiNotate with the Apple operating system......well I can if I put Windows on the Apple but I am not keen on that option. What are those of you with Apple operating systems using with the Tune-O-Tron (or perhaps something else) for ABC conversions where you are able to hear and see the notes simultaneously? This is a tenor treble Holmwood concertina I am offering for sale at $1200. I've had it for approximately 24 years and am the original owner. The kind folks at THE BUTTON BOX have recommeded a new bellows to improve its playing quality as well as to "shim the bellows frame gaskets, level the buttons,replace some valves and touch up the tuning and voicing". I solved this problem by cutting a piece of a black leather glove to fit around the entire thumbstrap and sewing the ends together. This decreased the size of the hole my thumb had to fit in. Make sure the leather is soft enough to bend around the curve of the thumbstrap and also that it feels comfortable on your thumb. Gerard

Laitch: Thanks for your time and efforts. I tried using two voices (V1 and V2) but must have gone wrong somewhere. A quick reading of your leads encourages me that a solution will be found. Thanks Jim for the suggestion. That works OK when converted to a pdf file but when converting the above ABC to the tune-o-tron midi it generates it as three separate units with no slurring of the F which is opposite of how it is in the pdf form. Best regards, Gerry

I've searched several tutorials unsuccessfully for an answer to the following ABC question and would appreciate any help: Writing, for example, [FA] [FB][Fd] would indicate that the F is played three separate times. How would you indicate that the F is played continuously while playing A then B then d? Everything I've tried so far gives all four notes (FABd) bunched together or the F plays first, stops and then the other notes play. I'm using the Cnet tune o tron. Best regards, Gerry
