  1. From C&S #13 some time in the previous century Product placement using cigarettes to sell concertinas? Reprinted with total disregard for social norms
  2. From the Way Back machine, C&S #20 summer 1989 Cogent comments from the bench of the celebrated Frank Edgley Reprinted with no regard for permission whatsoever.
  3. I’ve given you my 2¢ worth in a private message
  4. Before buying a “vintage” concertina with “real” concertina reeds. Be sure your seller knows what they have. In many instances and in complete innocence you may receive a pig in a poke.
  5. I have the ICC “Vintage” 30b c/g in stock now http://hmi.homewood.net/
  6. I have some likely suspects Http://hmi.homewood.net/concertinas
  7. My point is that there is little consensus on what comprises a Jeffries system
  8. From my experience, most people prefer the first button too RH to have a push C# rather than a pull C#
  9. I’ve added a draw C# to a modest ( though fully functional) Trinity College concertina on RH top row 2nd button. will that satisfy those who often hunger in vain for a modest concertina upon which to learn trad Irish concertina? https://www.facebook.com/groups/809436883276884/permalink/1085014015719168/?mibextid=cr9u03 let me know if this link fails. It’s just a hair too large to post directly on Cnet Bob
  10. This mod can be restored to the original without altering the original reed and profile
  11. There exists a redundancy of the RH “g” on most, maybe all Wheatstone layouts. I’ve repitched the top row “g” to “c#” to emulate the Jeffries layout. I’ve made a couple people happier doing so.
  12. Go to the goodwill or flea market and look for a ladies “train case” or cosmetic case. They are usually inexpensive little suitcases often with a tray and a mirror. built like a tank, and usually smell of perfume. easily adaptable for the concertina.
  13. Homewood Music http://hmi.homewood.net/concertinas upon sale from Cnet, appropriate donation forwarded
  14. I have a pair of Concertina Connection “Buskers” in the shop today.
  15. I am available. https://video.aptv.org/video/bob-tedrow-hrr55j/
  16. That is a Bastari english concertina, Dr Bastari and his engineers showed great ingenuity in this concertina. The reeds are probably more than acceptable as well. That has, I believe 48 buttons, standard for treble english. I think the button linkage is mechanical and does not rely on that awful surgical tubing that later Stagi concertinas display. Dr Bastari passed the baton to Lorenzo Stagi who made some changes in production. I don’t know if the current line up of Stagi concertinas include a 48b english.
  17. Https://hmi.homewood.net/jeffries.MOV available
  18. They are steel reeds. I don’t know of anyone building with brass reeds. http://hmi.homewood.net/concertinas

  20. So here is another clip demonstrating both “airtight-ness” as well as bellows “compliance-ness” https://www.facebook.com/Robert.Earl.Tedrow/videos/6015107245222179/?idorvanity=809436883276884
