Hi, this is not a question on the merits or otherwise of aluminium reed frames, as much discussed already, but of history...
Anybody know when Wheatstone (or any other reputable maker) first tried aluminium/dural for reed frames/beds on a production machine?
[i have a delightful Aeola with aluminium frames; sound is strong and sweet, and it's light as a feather - well perhaps not a feather...].
