  1. Allison, I hope that you are having fun. And meeting lots of Cnet members. That part was a lot of fun at the Catskills. Robin, Thanks for the clarification. Helen
  2. Thanks. I noticed the release date too. Accordions. Sigh.
  3. Lester, Do you know if they ship to the United States? I wasn't sure by reading through the web pages and didn't want to put in my info if they didn't ship here anyway. Very nice CD. Helen
  4. Thanks, Samantha, If that is what he means, I have one of those. Nifty to have a glass holder along with your music stand. You must have the advanced model. Helen
  5. I want to meet Steven too. People were mentioning Miltown Malbay at the East Durham workshops and I had not heard of it before. Nice to see it spelled out. Well, I'll meet Frank before I meet Steven. And Frank is the dad of my concertina. Now that I have started meeting Cnetters, I want to meet more.
  6. Michael is fine. I thought of you as Michael but someone mentioned you as Mike and I thought that I'd check.
  7. Robin, Please explain the open passenger dashboard cover. I am thinking your passenger side dashboard must be different than mine. This music stand intrigues me. Of course, when I am driving alone I would still have no use for it. But it intrigues me. Thanks, Helen
  8. Of course, of course, Michael Reid. I knew there was another Cnetter and I remembered the name Mike. Michael, do you prefer Mike?, has had lots of experience playing the concertina and going to places like the Squeeze-In. You seemed to be enjoying the concert on Saturday. I'm glad that we stayed. Lots of fine players throughout the day (12 - 8something) and I got to meet you too. Yea Mike. Good, I can rest tonight, I have remembered.
  9. Well, talking about sources, I'll add this tidbit here. Didn't want to start a new topic. I was looking through an Irish calendar that I forgot I had. Paging through it, I found a fiddle player and a concertina player. I quickly looked at the legend to see who the concertina player was. Curious if it would be someone I had heard about. Not only were the players not named, the concertina player was called a button accordion player. Weeellll technically it did have buttons and he was playing it ...
  10. For the past several years, I have only taken some sort of musical vacation. Or dance. So yes, I always take instruments. Although this is the first year for accordion and concertina. Then again, being single, I don't have to ask permission. Perhaps my neighbors are cheering when I leave with the reed instruments! Oh thank goodness, she is taking the ... with her. Here let us help you pack. Might be going through their lovely heads. (I have nice neighbors, only kidding about the joshing. They want me to play. I am shy. Really. Well, believe what you will. You are the people who thought I looked like my avatar!)
  11. This was a great festival. I had lots of fun. It was a little confusing in the beginning because the classes were held all over the town. Fortunately Greg helped me find where the PA class was held the night before as it was a little tricky finding it. I am not saying that the organizers were making any kind of a statement, but it was located so far away that it was in the next town. I can now put faces to some of the Cnet members which is great. Greg only suggested throwing the PA in the dumpster once. In his defense, those were mighty fine shelves that we found by a dumpster, but had no room to scavenge. Of course had we tossed ... Britt is a wonderful roommate. We had a lot of fun together. I am not saying the room we shared was tiny, but she had to take her hammer dulcimer outside every time she wanted to tune it. And then be accosted by the nonmusical neighbors, who asked her every thirty minutes, now what do you call that again? I kept telling her if she told them *George* they would remember that, but she was too nice. My only regret is that I did not see more of Mike aka fiddlersgreen because I enjoyed talking to him so much. Nice talking to you after the session and on the geology hike. Well, Ken has already told you that he hugged and kissed me on our first meeting. We Cnet people are very friendly. Enjoyed chatting with you in person instead of via typing messages, Ken. And what's this about Cnetters expecting me to look like my avatar? That's supposed to look like my DOG, you turkeys. Alan Miller was the star of our concertina class. We were all quite proud of him. And he has an Edgley so you know that he is a discriminating player. Alan (Allen?) P was super fun and quite the tease. AND he hung out with TWO, count them, TWO PA players. Ha ha ha. But he is strong, he can take the grief. Robin can sure play that EC. Now I understand why people keep talking about concertina reeds. Of course, it was his lovely playing that stood out, but the reeds were nice too. Lots of good playing centered around wherever Robin was hanging out. And we could hear some tina players early in the morning at the camp. Sometimes Robin or Greg would be playing and probably some others. Well I am missing at least one person. I met 8 people, I think, maybe more. Sorry to whomever I have forgotten. Seems to me I met another Mike too. Hm, more sleep less work and maybe it'll come back to me. i'd recommend this camp to everyone. Lot of fun, lot of learning, lots to do and hear, good friends old and new. Great teachers, great concerts, great sessions. So next year, let's all go.
  12. OOOOOOOOOOOO PA players fighting back, I love it. So I'm guessing that the fact my elementary teacher told me not to sing and just mouth the words which resulted in my NEVER again singing has a lot to do with me being confused about which notes are which. And I can't whistle. Maybe I should try humming. Yep, that might do it. Or I guess maybe I could sing. Nope, humming it is.
  13. Hi Stuart, Thanks for the help. I was off the net until tonight and just got your response. Now I'll go join Jim in the other forum. Helen
  14. Thanks, David. I was just thinking about him.
  15. I am taking a low level pa class and the Edel Fox basic concertina class. I think I might see Cnetters in both. How great is that!? Britt and I are at the Blackthorn. Are you guys who are camping at the same Blackthorn as we are? It would be great to get a ride with one of you as Britt is only doing afternoon classes. I'm starting to get excited. Been overinvolved in work stuff for the past two weeks and didn't get a chance to start getting excited until now. Whoo hoo.
  16. Hi Everyone, Just thought I'd apologize for disappearing again. Am having a big audit at work and since I'll be away some, I've been spending every waking moment at work. Thought I'd drop by and chat for a bit. Helen
  17. Yeah yeah Al, go on, encourage him. You may have missed my reply as we both posted at the same time. Derek, Al is not really laughing at your pa jokes. Oh heck, of course he is and so am I. I love jokes. So go ahead.
  18. Living alone, I thought I might fall off the face of the earth one day and no one would notice. At least for a while. I am overwhelmed and grateful that people did notice. Please note that I did not intentionally go away. I spent oodles of time and money trying to get the internet connection back up and running. Very very tedious and frustrating. Thank you all for the friendship and good cheer.
  19. DerekDerekDerek Chris, Stuart and Alan, Gosh thanks. This ear playing may be something that I can do. And in fact do a little of now. I always always always thought it meant you heard the notes and immediately "got it". Knew what they were. Well, of course for Stuart that is true. Well, hey, I can do this. Sort of.
  20. Hi, Sorry to use a new thread to get Rhomylly, but I lost her new email address when my computer fell off the planet. I sent you an email through Cnet, Rhomylly, but it came back undeliverable. Your profile must still have your old email address. So please email me with your new address. Thanks thanks thanks. Helen
  21. Well, I certainly will buy one. Or two.
  22. Thanks Al. Wendy, what is an accordion stand? It can't be what you put it(the accordion) on when you are done playing as you said it helped your back. Or is it? Gosh, Stephen, now I want to go waltzing. (Editing because I used too many its and they were confusing.)
  23. He tops my prayer list now. Although I don't know him, with this thread I feel that I do. Please keep us posted on his recovery.
