  1. Hi, After all the discovery, I thought it would be helpful to present the state of play with my Jeffries. I have been contacted by a number of "you", and can confirm that I will probably decide upon which offer to pursue on or shortly after the Solstice (21 Dec). Any futher offers will need to be at least £1000 upwards. Many thanks to you all for your interest and enthusiasm for the instrument!! Kind regards Alan
  2. Hi, Rest assured that I will not sell it to someone I don't feel comfortable with. I recognise now the significance that is put on such an object in its (nearly) original condition. I believe all those who are seriously interested in it do want it for its duet character. Because one offer is from overseas, and they will not be in the UK until 19 December, I will probably await that time for anything like a final decision..... Many thanks for your interest! And yes, the inverted "N" on the address is interesting, and I'm sure some detective work will be undertaken on this disucussion forum!! Kind regards Alan
  3. Hi, Here is an initial picture of one end. I have been told that it was probably originally made in b flat, but has been changed sometime early last century to C. Regards Alan
  4. Hi, It does seem that there are quite a few around who know this Duet system! For those interested, I am borrowing a camara, and will post some pictures up on this thread in the near future. Those who know can then pass a more informed opinion. Regards Alan
  5. Hi Richard, I think you are right. The buttons agree with a "Jeffries 52 key Duet". At lease we now know what instrument it is! Regards Alan
  6. Hi, I enclose a quick sketch of both ends. The bellows are black leather with no markings. The end pieces have gold embossed designs. One of the things I want at the moment is a digital camara..... My ISP is poor at the moment....email server worse than web, so forgive me if direct email is slow.... Regards Alan
  7. Hi Jim, All the notes do sound the same whichever way the bellows are working. All the notes work too!! Regards Alan
  8. Hi, There are 24 buttons one end and 27 at the other. 2 on each side appear to be some kind of drone, and separate from the others. And yes, I realise it has some value, as does the modern musical stuff that I want! Not sure what Duet means, but I think a concertina player in our local musoes group indicated that name....and that he could not play it!!! Too many buttons!
  9. I have just posted a note on the buy/sell board about my mothers old Jeffries concertina which I want to sell to in order to get my own style of music stuff!! The list owner suggestd I put a note in the buy/sell and this general discussion forum. Kind regards Alan Turnball
  10. I have a Jeffries concertina, about 50 buttons (I do not play). It has nickle end pieces with C Jeffries Maker, and an address 12 Aldershot Road, Kilburn NW6. It is in good working order although perhaps needs a service! It has what I beleive to be the original black leather case. Essentially I would like some money to buy something else rather than keep this instrument my mother once bought in an antique shop. No one in the familly plays!! I am in Worcestershire, UK
