  2. I have probably got some recordings that he supplied to my good Harry Hatton of Haydock, who I played with for many years.I will have a look. They will of coarse be on cassette.
  3. Yes I can remember him attending meetings of the Yorkshire Concertina Club in Leeds in the mid 1970's.This was the original YCC which has no connection with the current organisation. From memory Donald was a very technically accomplished player on both the duet and English and played from music most of the time.He was an ICA member and no doubt competed in the annual ICA competitions.
  4. If anyone wants to come and try the instrument I live near Sheffield,South Yorkshire.Construction of the instrument was completed in May 1988.
  5. Apologies for the photographs being up side down!I do not know why this happened or how to correct it
  6. This instrument was presented to the Manley Morris Dancers by a member of the team and is inscribed to that effect on the right hand end.The instrument has never been played outsid the house where it was kept and is in pristine condition and comes with the usual Dipper case. The action and tone is first class and it has lovely fretted sides.I was one of the concertina players for Manley from the mid 1970's until they ceased to perform.I have asked by the surviving members of the team to sell the instrument to fund the written history and a film of the team. The price I have been asked to obtain is £7000 but I will consider offers. If you are interested send me a PM.I can provide additional photographs if required.
  7. That's why I posted the message!Lets say James Boorer plays a duet.Sincere apologies for giving incorrect information!!
  8. This years music weekend will feature the usual array of great concertina players of all systems. We will have talks on "The Leeds Band" from Martin Clarke, Traditional Mouth Organ playing in the British Isles from Steve Harrison & Annie Dearman, The Fowke Tradition(Canadian Song Collector) John Bowden & A Concertina Workshop on the use of bellows with Roger Digby. Geoff Crabb cannot attend this year so we are showing two films .One featuring "The Concertina Concert" held at the English Country Music Weekend held in Bradfield in 2003 and the other on the famous concertina makers H.Crabb & Sons made by Anglia Television for the "Bygones" series made in the early 1970's.It features Geoff and his late father and brother as well as Roger Digby. There are the usual sessions in local pubs and its hope that James Boorer (McCann Duet and piano)will again give us his "Great East End Knees Up" Tickets for the weekend are £20 per person to include the Saturday night dance and camping. Email me for a ticket application. Mark Davies: edeophone@aol.com
