Good morning. A couple of questions. Are the reed shoe slots on the silver Eiru tapered? Second, how long have you had/played the instrument? Lastly, what is the layout? Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply Frank. Sorry to be ignorant here, but what exactly am I looking for that would indicate that the reed shoe has "worked loose"? If the case, is the issue that the reed itself is loose in the shoe or that the shoe is loose? Is the reed attached to the shoe with a screw. Many thanks.

I have a six month old Irish Concertina Company Vintage. Was working fine until a week ago when I noticed the draw C# RH first button outside row, was returning a very muffled, muted sound. The push, also a C#, sounds fine. I am assuming that there is a reed problem?? How difficult is it to get to the reed. I have taken the fronts off of concertinas before, but have little experience with reed pans. I will also contact ICC. Thanks.

FOR SALE: 1893-1894 English Wheatstone, SN 21701, 56 metal key extended treble. In good condition, played moderately since my purchase about 20 years ago from The Button Box in Amherst MA. Shows normal wear. Prior to my purchase instrument was reconditioned; felt bushings replaced. Bellows in good condition with minor leather wear. Spoke with Doug Creighton at the Button Box yesterday. They will be closing their doors March 31, but will likely be making instruments through the summer, both to fill orders and use up parts. They are still taking orders currently.
