  1. Hi Malcolm. It was myself Alex referred to. Mark of Concertina Spares sent me a set a few months back and they are fine. Plus nicely skived leather end bands and much else besides for a complete rebuild. Price was also good.
  2. Thanks for the advice all. With the gussets off a fine scalpel along all the edges did the trick and they came of cleanly. They were not bonded very well luckily. Bellows next.
  3. Thanks Alex. The top half of the triangular gussets came off and it looks like they were fixed using bone or hide glue so I’m hoping the tongue is the same. It looks like these small gussets were reused from the other half of the action box . Do you have any advice about “loosening” that main joint, which feels solid. Photo of the action board fyi.
  4. Hi all. I am rebuilding a Lachenal 30 button Anglo and the action board frames need some repair. On both left and right one of the sides of the hexagon is a “tongue” glued onto the fretwork frame and that fits into the action board frame. These tongues are not very neat and I think may have been a modification as there is old glue on the beads and the action board. I am not sure if I should try remove these tongues and refit to the action board. Can anyone advise if this tongue is a standard layout for Lachenals? Thanks as always, Ralph.
  5. Hi. I am starting a rebuild of a Lachenal Anglo and need to build a valve sounding box. Can anyone advise where to buy a suitable pump to use. Im in the UK. Also any links to articles much appreciated. img_0680.heic
  6. Many thanks Stephen. I also read your article on Lachenals and it has the reed trade mark stamped on the handle. I have bought the Concertina Maintenance Manual by Dave Elliot. Now to learn about how to repair concertinas…………
  7. Hi Stephen. I bought an old anglo from an antique shop in Tobermory on Mull this month. The makers plaque is unreadable but I think its a Lachenal and the serial number is 160972. Can you give me an idea of the date?
