  1. Just to fill in a bit of info on this instrument; it was Koot Brits' own instrument. He sent it to me as a way of returning my deposit for another instrument that he was having trouble delivering in time. It was 8 months old at the time and this was a couple of months ago. It is no use to me as I have my C/G Jeffries already. It is a very nicely finished instrument with excellent action and a good sound.
  2. I am selling a very nice Koot Brits 40-button anglo on ebay. For those interested: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181159553271?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
  3. In a word, no. These are remarkably ugly and badly shaped. Anyway, I want to restore the instrument to its former glory.
  4. The sad thing is that it is a lovely looking instrument but not a very good player (I've tried it as have others). My comment was based not only on my history of him but also the (apparently) illogical moves he makes with listing it (e.g. it doesn't sell so he relists at a higher price etc). Not sure I'd label this a witch hunt.....
  5. I suspect he has a mental problem....and yes, ebay should do something about him!
  6. I have a 1920s Wheatsone Model 22. It has been retrofitted with the ugliest pait of aluminium finger rests (rivetted in place too!!). I have had no luck with the usual sources (Dave Leese etc) with getting a pair of nickel (or nickel plated) replacements. Any suggestions or anyone wanting to sell a pair before \i give Steve Dickinsen a lot of money? Thanks
  7. Great entertainment though!!
  8. This Wheatstone located in the US, priced in pounds, shipping by UK parcelforce. Hmmm.http://www.ebay.com/itm/OLD-WHEATSTONE-31-BUTTON-METAL-ENDED-CONCERTINA-/121081079706?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1c30fea79a
  9. East ro report, much more difficult to get Ebay to do anything about it. We had one recently where a number of us told them and they let it run its course.
  10. I think Geoff is correct. It is a pretty consistent feature of instruments out of South Africa that they have had 8-fold bellows fitted.
  11. I reported the Crabb but no action as yet it seems
  12. You don't say whether or not the owner is actually selling. This would help determine whether this is a scam. Apologies, I meant to put Crabb and the owner isn't selling
  13. Heads up. I thought there was only one of these and I know the owner. I've asked him but beware if you're thinking of buying. Double reed Wheatstone
  14. That does look ridiculously cheap for a Jeffries! I always insure to the max (which is $1000) with Canada Post and hope for the best. Price is reasonable but I wish the limit was higher (or absent).
  15. Beautiful ends, 6-fold bellows, yet only a 20-button. I haven't seen one quite like this before. Asking a lot for it though. I wonder if the etching was done post-purchase. Lachenal
  16. I just listed my 40-button Wheatstone Anglo on ebay. Prefer to sell here. Still time for Christmas! Wheatstone Donation to c.net if it sells through here.

    Hehe

Maybe he thinks that the reason it's not getting early bids is that folks are suspicious that such a "low" starting price suggests that there's something wrong with it? If you think that makes no sense, I'll agree with you, but I'm not convinced that there's any other explanation that makes more sense. apart from mental instability
  18. Very pretty but I think the bellows may be shot. Very nice otherwise.

What he like to do is wait until it's too late to respond and then give bad feedback without any prior discussion or even mentioning that there is an issue beforehand. He did that to me on an instrument that had no issues. Not sure why he does that but it fits with his other eccentricities. I also had earlier dealings with him that went OK (apart from me selling him a Jones that he was convinced was a Jeffries!)

I've dealt with him. I think he's honest enough but be careful you don't get stabbed in the back. His responses to questions can be hysterical!
