  1. This might be appropriate, maybe not. Maybe too late in time?? At worst I hope it's the right guy?? But here's something: One of his movies is in the public domain. "White Zombie". He plays a missionary. It's on Google Video here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=84...eph+cawthorn%22 Or this might interest you Audio: http://www.archive.org/details/JosephCawthorn Another short clip half way down the page under Hit Broadway shows: http://www.archeophone.com/product_info.php?products_id=63 Some Sheet Music. Apparently he wrote the above song: http://scriptorium.lib.duke.edu/sheetmusic/n/n01/n0198/ More sheet music by, about, or performed by Joseph Cawthorn with pictures. 2 pages: http://levysheetmusic.mse.jhu.edu/otcgi/llscgi60 (unfortunately won't allow direct link. Click new search, then in top left block type Cawthorn {search for block}, then search will bring them up). Picture of him and Queenie, and where they are burried: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?p...emPhotos=Y& But alas nothing concertina...................................yet. Thanks Leo
  2. I took your suggestion and looked into it. I didn't know about groups there. Their "terms agreement seems to me to be a bit harsh and one sided. Section 5b says they can do anything including sell whatever anybody puts on their website. To quote them: "However, by submitting the User Submissions to YouTube, you hereby grant YouTube a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicenseable and transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display, and perform the User Submissions in connection with the YouTube Website and YouTube's (and its successor's) business, including without limitation for promoting and redistributing part or all of the YouTube Website (and derivative works thereof) in any media formats and through any media channels. You also hereby grant each user of the YouTube Website a non-exclusive license to access your User Submissions through the Website, and to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display and perform such User Submissions as permitted through the functionality of the Website and under these Terms of Service. The foregoing license granted by you terminates once you remove or delete a User Submission from the YouTube Website." End quote. I'm not sure it would be prudent to invite people to submit videos of their "intellectual property", and allow a video supplier to have that much power without any input from the submiter. By the way I really like your video that you've submitted to them as you pointed out in the recorded links post: http://www.concertina.net/forums/index.php...ost&p=43423 Thanks Leo
  3. Very nice. I think the video adds a lot to the audio, an added insight so to speak Thanks Leo
  4. Woody They seem randomly generated Stephen They don't have to go too far for me, I'm already halfway there I'm easily confused Thanks for straightening me out. Play well: Leo
  5. Wouldn't it be nice if these could be labled the FIRST ones on Google and YouTube. Hopefully many more will follow. Who knows, maybe a "recorded links video page" to complement and plagerize a good idea. Thanks Leo
  6. Stephen Thanks, appreciate it. I guess after last weeks virus I started looking harder at what was in front of me. And noticed things I haven't seen before. Just caught my eye ads for free phones with survey ads from gooooogle. Yes more than two "o's" in gooooogle. Not annoying, just noticing. Normal is good. I'm satisfied. Thanks Leo
  7. Yes I'm running Internet Explorer ver 6.0, SP2. That's why I'm curious if it's just me. If it's normal it's ok. It's just that I haven't noticed it before. Not very observent I guess. If not, I've got a problem. Thanks Leo
  8. Has anybody seen this video from Google videos of a guitar and concertina tune. Interesting. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=56...mp;q=concertina Thanks Leo
  9. I don't want to pry into the hidden workings of this forum, it's not my business to do that, but I just happened to notice our nice banner advertisements from the dealers and other concertina related people have been randomly disappearing and reappearing on the top and bottom of the page and replaced with "free concertina offerings" if you take our survey, and "new and used concertinas" or "european security fencing", with mouse overs to "art-offer.com" and "accordionheaven.com" or "europeansf.com. They keep changing. I have never noticed it before? Maybe it's normal?. Maybe it's just me? I'm so confused. Has anybody else noticed this? If I right click on properties I get: http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagea...s?client=ca-pub. I was looking for a banner in particular that I knew was in a particular spot, and it wasn't there, and looked around for it, came back to the page and it was where I thought it was. Sometimes when I refresh the page, an original banner ad comes back. Help straighten me out Thanks Leo
  10. Maybe it's Lark in the Moring. Lark Retail Stores San Francisco, CA • Seattle, WA • Mendocino, CA The Shop is located in the South Arcade Building (map) 1411 First Avenue at the corner of Union and First next to the Pike Place Market. The shop phone number is (206) 623-3440 Thanks Leo
  11. Hi You might want to listen to: http://www.anglo-concertina.net/links.htm They are recorded from members of this net. What part of the world do you live in. (Just to be able to point you in the right direction). Dealers? The ones with the banners on these pages are ok. Thanks Leo
  12. Got my curiosity up a little bit (I hate it when that happens), and found on their website another video: fiddle, dancers, swords, and yes they somersault. Absolutely fascinating. Takes a while to load but well worth the wait. I can't help it. I still get excited when i find something new. http://www.thedemonbarbers.co.uk/Promo_DVD...0Rapper_Med.mpg From this site: http://www.thedemonbarbers.com/Default.aspx?tabid=152 Thanks Bry I may look into this further, and thanks Jim for pointing to something neat. Thanks Leo
  13. Bry Thanks for the captivating performance, especially the fiddle. I agree with Jim, it is wonderful. I didn't know of that style before seeing your video that Jim pointed out. Put it on Google, and who knows, you might just make the top 100 shortly. Thanks for your efforts. Thanks Leo
  14. Jim Must have overlooked this post in my looking for interesting new things. Absolutely fascinating performance. I didn't know what to expect. Rapper with concertina pictures in my mind meant something different?!?!? Shaded of Snoop Dog. Boy what ignorance, and pleasant surprise. I agree both fiddle and video were mesmerizing to the end wanting more. It's tough living in a hole not knowing all thats really out there. Thanks Leo
  15. The scammers must have liked it. They didn't waste any time cloning the advertisement with this: http://cgi.ebay.com/Jeffries-Early-Superb-...1QQcmdZViewItem They only want $262.84 (US) with $62.58 shipping. I especially liked their Steinway Grand Piano listed in their sellers other items for only $1,001.29. I would have expected both to be worth more than that. Both are buy it now prices. Maybe the high prices are starting to finally come down????? Almost makes me want to call them. After all they've been very busy today cloning ads. Maybe they are cloning their own clones. OH! NO! it looks like the attack of the jeffries clones! http://cgi.ebay.com/Jeffries-38-key-Anglo-...1QQcmdZViewItem Clone number 2 only $175.32. At this rate in a few days they may pay us to take them. Prices coming down fast. Nah I still won't bite. Thanks Leo Edited to add clone of a clone

    China Scam 23 July

Yes I did, and I thought I was the least elecant, unejimicated person on th Thanks Leo
  17. Could this be two of those magical concertinas appearing, disappearing, and reappearing again. Could be a plot for a new book: "Here Today, Not, and Back Again". Written by ??????????????. At least that's his information on the top of the ad under category: Number one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Lachenal-Excelsior-Tre...1QQcmdZViewItem As is this also: http://cgi.ebay.com/Connor-30-key-Concerti...1QQcmdZViewItem Thanks Leo

    China Scam 22 July

"all" as in all that I've learned, certainly not all there are. Might not be something new but I do say they are persistent. After being closed down yesterday. it shows up again this morning. http://www.concertina.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=4344
  19. And thus it returns after one day The legitimate sale: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A%3AIT&rd=1 The cloned sale is back after being shut down for a day. Different name. Like his other items too. My son would like a Roland keyboard for only $262.84, but the $125.shipping is slightly high. They also allow wire transfer and Western Union money transfer http://cgi.ebay.com/Jeffries-38-key-Anglo-...em#ReturnPolicy

    China Scam 22 July

Hadn't considered a different group. Legit? Not for a second now, however a few months ago yes. You guys here collectively pointed out what to look for in the adds. Took a while to put it all together. I'm slow. In the US they also show no payement methods. Thanks Leo

    China Scam 22 July

I think a more intriguing speculation would be on the first glance: why would they damage their own legitimate commerce as evidenced by these: http://cgi.ebay.com/English-Concertina-Acc...1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/Mini-English-Concertin...1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/Anglo-System-Concertin...1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/Seamans-Concertina-dou...1QQcmdZViewItem At least I'm pretty sure these have chinese origination, even though they may be badged by someone else??????? If they are the same group, maybe they should talk to the guys in the legitimate department down the hall. Thanks for the education Leo
  22. How can an English offering on EBay have the same serial number as a China offering?? Quote both: "This is a pretty little 20 key anglo by Lachenal and Co No 188059-c 1915". Fascinating that the clone shows up within hours of the legitimate offering? The Original Offering from England. S/He says it's (restored): http://cgi.ebay.com/Lachenal-20-key-Anglo-...1QQcmdZViewItem The clone offering from China. They say it's new: http://cgi.ebay.com/Lachenal-20-key-Anglo-...1QQcmdZViewItem By the way if anybody is interested in the clones other offerings, here they are, (an interesting mix of instruments): http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZvcxzjk05QQhtZ-1 Should I gamble on the buy it now price from China of $200.26 and delivery price of $62.58, and forgo the English that would probably go a lot higher than their starting bid of $371.72 Thanks Leo
  23. Greg Since I've only been at this for a short while, some of the things you mentioned I wasn't aware of. However one of the things, and the major things that caught my eye was the pictures came up next to each other with the identical description text. I have seen things relisted after a no sale, but like you mentioned running concurrently with another with the appearance of almost everything the same. Save money; by all means I'm all for that. However I've already depleted my previous savings for my Morse Albion that for now I'm very happy with. It'll be a while before I figure out how to play that and expand my efforts to others. Thanks for the information. I'll put it into my ever expanding bag of need to know information. Thanks Leo
  24. Stephen I suspected as much but wasn't sure. Thanks for the confirmation. Appreciatie the effort. You guys do nice work! Thanks Leo
