  1. In the 1957 movie "The Rising of the Moon", there is a scene in the 2nd episode "A Minute's Wait" at the train station where a Martin O'Duffy sings and uses an anglo concertina as a prop. It shows up at about 43:00. Sorry, I couldn't find a short clip of it, just the whole movie. Thanks Leo
  2. Hi Elizabeth That's a nice concert. I'm surprised it plays O.K. for me in the US. The BBC sometimes does and sometimes doesn't. Would you believe it's on YouTube already for those that can't see it on the BBC player: Simon Thoumire & Ian Carr-Travelling Folk-Celtic Connections 2011 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BXeIDeya-M&fmt=18 Thanks Leo

  7. Hi Panic There are a few good online resources for beginners to get started on an Anglo concertina. Here are two in no special order. http://www.concertinaman.com/concertina-tutorial/ http://petertrimming.webs.com/teachyourselfanglo.htm Think of reading sheet music as the ultimate tab, that works with any instrument. Simple tunes in the beginning. It's not really that difficult. Thanks Leo
  8. Hi Michael Martyn (Nytram) had a beginners special that was a part of his experiments with split screen and stereo videos in 3D. His 16 part English for beginners starts here: One of the mirror discussions on concertina.net was in 2007. It took a while, I finally found it. It was from Peter Trimming. http://www.concertina.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=6590&view=findpost&p=61961

  11. hmmm.... interesting challenge. i've already planned out the project. the difficult part is making sure i have two cameras that work together and produce a clear picture of the concertina. i'll let you know after i do some run throughs whether or the not i can move forward with making something worth watching. Hi David A while ago one of the members was working on a similar type project, but I couldn't find it. It was solved with two mirrors. One to see the other side, and the second to correct the image reversal. The rest was aligning everything to look good. Worth a thought? Thanks Leo
  12. In the 1960 Peter Sellers and Terry Thomas movie called "Carlton Browne of the F.O.", there is a Morris dance about 9:45. The musicians have a concertina and melodeon. In the US TV series "The Rat Patrol" (Season 1 Episode 17, "The Last Harbor Raid Episode III 2Jan, 1967), there is a short French tune sung by Claudine Longet to the muscic of a concertina. In the 1999 TV movie "The Hunley", a concertina plays a tune or two in a bar scene about 45 minits into the movie, shortley after the crew makes their first submerged training. In the 1976 Clint Eastwood movie "Outlaw Josey Wales", there is an outdoor prayer service scene a hundred or so minutes into the movie. Sondra Locke fakes playing an English concertina for the tune "In the Sweet Bye and Bye". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G822HWhbX0k#t=05m25s Thanks Leo

Hi Patrick Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too. There are a few listed in "O'NEILL'S MUSIC OF IRELAND" mixed in with some songs. On this page: http://www.oldmusicproject.com/oneils1.html There is a version of Mountains of Pomeroy in O'Neill's also, but I don't know if it's the version you need. It's dated from 1850 and a 1903 edition: http://www.oldmusicproject.com/subpage/OneilsAirsSongs04.html This page from Fiddlers Companion has "Mountains of Pomeroy" listed with Noel Hill's name attached from 1994. It might be the version you need. http://www.ibiblio.org/fiddlers/MOU_MOY.htm Thanks Leo
  20. Hi Varney It comes close. Here is a picture http://littlebirdiesecrets.blogspot.com/2009/06/more-ideas-for-fathers-day-stamped-dog.html There are 3 sizes. This is the 1/8" stamps. http://www.harborfreight.com/36-piece-1-8-eighth-inch-steel-letter-number-stamping-set-800.html The 1/4" and the 3/8" are on the bottom I have the 1/8"set and they work good on brass disks for name tags for the dogs. Thanks Leo

  23. Hi Mark It's hard to say without more information, or the error code. There are a few different ones that mean different errors. Here is a list that might help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_HTTP_status_codes I've run into error 450 on occasion that some have received, thinking they've protected their computer. Does this Gentrai program work? http://www.tg4.tv/main.aspx?content=393092271105'>http://www.tg4.tv/main.aspx?content=393092271105 It was accessed from the main page here: http://www.tg4.tv/ Another recent one mentioned in a recent post is on the right of the main page that takes me to here: http://www.tg4.tv/main.aspx?content=403482383361 They work O.K. in Pennsylvania. There is a very rare occurence when it wil be blocked in the US, but that creates a message on the player and in my experience is very rare. It doesn't create an http error. Thanks Leo
  24. Hi Dick I missed it yesterday. Thanks for the links. TG4 works O.K. in the East US Thanks Leo
