  1. Having thought this is probably the best place to start, I'm putting out feelers to find the value of my Jeffries Duet - with a view to selling it... what I can tell you so far is: How many buttons? 52 odd including the bypass(air intake thing)? and a bass note Core or home key? wouldn't know one if it asked me out for dinner, what am I looking for and I'll let you know which it is Condition, including Concert pitch? Very good nick, a couple of notes are a little squeeky (sticky?) - one of the straps will need repair / replacing - I have the original leather case, but it will need a new handle or repair to it. Bellow airtightness? no puffing / wheezing or cracks etc. Bellows are sound to the best of my knowledge Pad replacement? I've not put any in Valve replacement? the metal things that are in a bag at the bottom of the case - several spares, it is as it was when my great grandfather passed away in the early / mid sixties, ever since stored in a wardrobe in dry conditions, It needs maintenance as opposed to repair, I can try and send a video clip of playing (hah! can't play a note) the notes through to show you what good condition its in. attached is a picture I'll start again with a basic 'learner' at some stage, but the wife has said 'we' are learning the piano now... Thanks Rich
  2. Many moons and several builders bills have gone by since my last post and I'm now in the 'reluctant sale' position. This is just initial feelers to gauge what I should market my Jeffries duet for... I'm wary of the wacky world of e-bay and I'm having an auctioneers valuation or two on Wednesday... but in the mean time thought I'd find out if anyone had a rough idea of a market price for the Jeffries. This isn't a scam, if anyone is interested I'm more than happy to chat. I can also record a squeeze or two as a video clip if anyone wants to see the Duet working (just don't ask me to play anything recognisable...) one or two keys a little sticky, but its in very good nick and makes a nice racket... Many thanks, Rich
  3. Many thanks Gav, I'm in the process of getting a basic music theory book... just playing around with the concertina, it has a amazing range of sounds, and ham fisted touch typist that I am, I even managed to get a harmony of sorts out of... I'll drop you a line later, many thanks for the offer of help! Cheers Rich
  4. Thanks to everyone who replied - attached is a photo of what I have its marked 'C Jeffries 12 Aldershot Road, Kilburn NW6 and is also engraved with my great grandfathers name under one of the handles. I can hold a tune, but have no other musical talents and would really like to be able to play something (I can do a few bars of 'blow the man down' by ear but thats it
