  1. Its the position where Edeophones were often marked with the Edeophone registered design number, the serial number would be in the usual place, on the left end. Ooops, sorry; yes. It's quite a while (15+ years) since I've owned one!
  2. Is that someone's name punched into the leather lower part left and right ? cant make it out. The gold embossing will be a serial number; the seller could supply the prospective buyer with details!
  3. NZ leads; the rest of the concertina-playing world follows. Happy New Year. Glad to see the back of yet another year. Don't know about "satisfying new heights in 2010"; it was bad enough lugging a camera up a mountain in 2009, without thinking about a concertina!
  4. There's another interesting question. What does the Fat Owl of the Remove play and where does he play it? Chris (1) Not Maccann, Crane, or Jeffries Duet. (2) Where the money takes him. If my crystal ball is still working!
  5. Thanks, Irene. Selected as "Photograph of the day", for yesterday, on the geograph site.
  6. Nearly as bad, here. It rained late on Saturday night, and the rain froze onto the remains of the snow/ice from the previous day. Tried to go out for some shopping, yesterday morning, but decided that conditions were too bad to risk a fall. Think I was lucky to escape for a few hours, on Saturday, to a snow-free location: http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1626228
  7. I'm green with envy! http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1624272
  8. Looks like Essex had about twice as much as sunny Croydon. Watching from the safety of my house, but might venture out later.
  9. Hi Paul, In the "campaign for plain English", is this how now to edit posts? If so, I can't see how to do it; not exactly a computer expert. Regards, Peter.
  10. It's raining Police men (and women) here! Most of the ground forces have been withdrawn They're back with ladders to search several gardens in my street. Quite amusing to watch a Police dog being "lobbed" over a six foot high fence. Don't know what this guy has done, but must be quite serious.
  11. It's raining Police men (and women) here! Most of the ground forces have been withdrawn, but the Police helicopter is circling. Fighting against fading light.
  12. It's raining Police men (and women) here! Looks like a fairly big manhunt, as there were a stream of cars racing to my area as I came back from shopping. Invited a charming WPC into the house, as my window gives a good vantage point. Still several shivering Police on view. Will you be serenading her with your concertina playing? lol! I wondered why she was so keen to go back outside in the cold!

  14. For many years the last "event" of the evening at Chippenham Folk Festival (until they rebuilt the Neeld Hall) was the gathering at the bottom of the stairwell by the loos for a session singing chorus songs. This became known as the Acoustic Bog Chorus. Chris Funny how I knew, from half a sentence, that you were going to say that! A great time was had by all, in that concertina-free environment.
  15. In between looking out of the window at the first (tiny) snowflakes of winter, I've just watched this programme. Very interesting; this is probably the concertina which Ian Munro was telling me about. The valuation hall is just a short walk from Ian's house! If so, Ian spotted the concertina after the valuation, and put the owner right about the likely valuation; Ian was spot on. Bonus point for anyone spotting the other concertina on the show. Opening credits show the Royal Doulton "Jolly Sailor" figure; worth rather less than the Wheatstone!
  16. Maybe we should all turn up; that would be a laugh! And your an antique show veteran Well, as Tim Wonnacott is no longer on Antiques Roadshow, I might not be rumbled.
  17. Maybe we should all turn up; that would be a laugh!
  18. I suspect you are right, in which case they will learn tunes without realising it. Then, it's just a case of working it out onto the instrument, in their chosen style.
  19. Useful thread! Could I suggest that you edit your initial posting to include the updated list, as it will avoid the need to go hunting through the various postings. Regards, Peter.
  20. So; can we have a few more white flags, before another thread gets closed and posters decide against opening threads like this?
  21. Nutty slack? http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=nutty%20slack
  22. Then you probably need to know the "correct" password ......
  23. Which is a "Members Only" site. So is this one if you want to post, no? Only if you want to post. Reading the numerous posts; informative, or otherwise, is "free" to all.
