  1. This threat must have urged our dear administrators to look again for that button, that switches off the whole reputation thing. I'm sure I saw those red and green +s and -s 2 days ago, and now they're vanished. Hooray!!
  2. Under Advanced next to the search option on the top right side of this page you can search by author. But there seems to be a maximum of 200 results (= 8 pages). For example: Author: "David Barnert" gives 200 results going back to Sep 26 2008, But Words: "Music", Author: "David Barnert" and Forum: "General Concertina Discussion" gives 180 results, going back to Aug 29 2003. So you can search by Author, going back as far as the format change 2003 , as long as you specify enough search criteria to limit the results to less than 200.
  3. But what, if you live in Memphis TN, like Concerteeny?
  4. Keep us informed, Dave. The more documentation of these inspiring adventures, the better!
  5. Thanks for the compliment. You know LeSession: Steve Manfield's Abc music tutorial? That site has been very helpful to me. It answers all my ABC questions. I've edited my previous post to change the time signature from 6/8 to 3/4. I love to play mazurkas, which are in 3/4 as well, whose rhythmic feel is also very different from a waltz. (and from a jota...)
  6. I've done that this evening. but I transposed to Cmajor. Please check if it needs any corrections. And here it's in Bmajor, like you play it. Thanks for the tune. Leonard (Edited for typo; and to change time signature from 6/8 to 3/4)
  7. I do! Great tune. Do you have scores or ABC to share?
  8. The 55's in ledger SD04 are only anglos. Until 1937 Wheatstone used 1 line of serial numbers for all their concertinas. But in Ledger SD03 (1937-1974) from November 1937 the anglos are missing: I think #34945 is the last one. Ledger SD04 is an Anglo production Ledger, starting in 1953 with #55492. So there are one or more ledgers for anglos between 1937 and 1953 which are lost. If production between 1937 en 1953 was 5500 anglos (not unlikely IMHO), separate numbering of anglos in 1937 started with #50000. (Is this correct?) So for anglos there is a gap between #34945 and #50000(if I'm right), and the latest anglo is #59498. In SD03 you can find the youngest English (#37083) and the youngest duet (#37057) But if there is an English #46142 this is not the whole story. Who knows, a separate book for repairs and alterations starting from #45000? Are there any other Wheatstones known between #37083 and #50000?
  9. I do agree with that. And I am curious what it sounds like on an anglo. Volunteers?
  10. Pirochnikoff is mentioned in the introduction of the Lachenal pricelist (c1890) among other "eminent artistes": http://www.concertin...t-All-c1890.pdf
  11. I proudly succeeded in rendering that exciting rhythmic shift. And then I see that Chris edited his original post: Rhythmic shift? No, just a mistake ....
  12. Or send me a PM. I have a copy. Leonard.
  13. This flower inlays were used by Lachenal for their English concertinas "Inimitable" (rosewood), "Excelsior" (ebony) and "Nompariel" (amboyna/gilt buttons), all with steel reeds, gilt tooling and fancy papers. Until the introduction of the "New Model" and the "Edeophone" in the late 1880's these were Lachenal's top models, but production just continued after that.
  14. Great tune, Chris. Especially the rhytmic shift of the B part's phrase in the first bars of the C part. I like the tune enough to learn to play it, so I should be brave enough to post a (first) recording, shouldn't I. Just the plain tune, on an English. I do hope, others will follow. 15. The joints are partially inserted into the broken ends. See Roy's description in this post. Accordion or not, it's magic!
  16. See this topic for solution (that is, for your t5yping problem)
  17. Also on Ebay last month, 2 top-of the-range concertinas for more realistic prices: Restored extended treble Edeophone, c.1900: £1650 http://cgi.ebay.co.u...em=250544053931 Æola treble, 1921, "good, original working order": $3206 (£1982) http://cgi.ebay.co.u...em=140365557384 For comparison: In May 2008 I bought my restored wooden ended extended treble Æola (1926) from the respected dealer for £ 2500. (Of course the dealer price is somewhat higher than Ebay prices.) Leonard

If you mean the key of the piece, I think it's in G minor.

  20. I'm sorry, the G# next to the A should be Ab as well. Consistency is in the fact, that the accidental next to any natural is the natural's flat or sharp. So the G# next to the G is OK, the G# next to the A should be Ab. Any English tina players to confirm this? (Hope this is in time for your "tonight") Leonard
