  1. Thanks guys. Your info is appreciated. But??? I am attached. Another question, using material from a goatskin glove, (for valves) the material is just a little bit thin (inexpensive work gloves). What glue would you use to double the leather without stiffening the leather to much? I really enjoy reading the various thoughts and personalitys that shine through the threads. Then trying to translate the slang and specialized words. I have sent my good squeezebox to be properly done except for minor repairs. But I would like to hear this one sing again. I have no intention of leaving it to my grand kids. Like you said it was only a dollar originally (convert that to Euro's??) I would like to do it with more modern materials. And on the inexpensive side. Just for the pure joy of doing it. By the way what is a good source for the materials you mentioned. Tom
  2. Has anybody tried to use naugahyde as a bellows material? Please don't jump up and down and scream and holler. I would like to make several different style bellows inexpencively. Would it have to be stiffened with paper? How does GE caulk work as a glue? Maybe use book binding tape to stiffen and protect the edges? Any other suggestions? I have built several Ullien pipe bags and bellows and naughyde was very successful. I have a turn of the centurey ten button German with most of the parts but no bellows and I would like to hear it sing once again. Tom
  3. I recently became the 'proud' owner of a 'Novitat Accordian' (ten button) from about the turn of the centurey. Engraved on the front panel is 'German Shutz - Marke Manufacture'. It's in pretty bad shape. The kind you mignt save for spare parts. It's pretty crude inside. The wood looks like rough cut cedar shake material. The outside probably was pretty fancy when it was new. It has two bass keys with three reeds on one and two reeds on the other. It has two sets of trebble reeds with a slide to turn one off. Probably for wet effect, volume or tremulo. The other side button does not appear to be connected. I would like to hear it sing again???? Does anyone have any information, or can point me in the right direction? Is it possible to date this little jewel? Tom
