For sale this Lachenal Paragon english treble, number 54538, steel reeds, 5-fold bellows. In full original condition, with no signs of previous work whatsoever, clean and tidy inside out. Playable as it is but obviously not at its full potential, bellows are a little too stiff. Doesn’t have a case.
Price is £450 + shipping.
More photos and information privately on request.
Donation will be made if sold through the forum.

Still available, listed on ebay too though I’d much rather sell here and make a donation.

I am selling this beautiful George Case 48-key baritone English concertina in superb condition inside out. Brass reeds, double-chambered, and in modern pitch. Original bellows with a good compression and flexibility. Plays very nicely, with a sweet, mellow tone.
No repairer’s label but it seems to have been worked on at some point, being tuned at A=440 Hz. It could do with some minor adjustments/repairs here and there, but certainly nothing major!
Comes with its original hexagonal case, also in good condition.
The asking price is £1000 + postage. Can be shipped abroad.
More info and photos available on request.

If anyone is interested this concertina is now for sale;

Due to lack of time at present I’ve decided to part ways with this beautiful concertina that I had planned to get it restored and keep for my collection. Probably a mid-high end model at the time (?); steel reeds, metal buttons (bushed), gold-tooled bellows etc. Serial number 1290. It seems to have had some work done in the past, including rebinding of the bellows, pads, straps, but no valve work. Not very playable in its current condition, will most likely need new bellows as they are quite stiff. Will also need one end bolt replaced. Then the usual action and reed work.
Doesn’t have a case unfortunately.
Price is £400 + shipping. Currently located in Hertfordshire. Would rather sell through the forum and make a donation.
More info and photos available on request privately.
Thanks

Yeah this one is Keith, Prowse & Co (which I understand weren’t makers themselves). Jones I believe had their own?

Thanks, good to know. Any bit of information about Habibi and/or the repairer would be nice to know, just out of curiosity really.

That one is indeed a Crabb, though most of the ones I’ve come across are actually Wheatstones from the 1930s, time at which Tel Aviv (Israel) was in the British Mandatory Palestine. Examples attached.

Any maker or restorer in the UK who could take on the task of making a new set of bellows for a single action bass concertina?.

What are its dimensions? Any chance there’s a case?
30 x 27 cm (height x length). With the bellows closed it has a width of 16 cm from one end to the others. No case I’m afraid.

So sad to hear, I had the pleasure to meet and deal with him a couple of times. Had all the intentions to send him an edeophone baritone that I’m sure he would have loved to get his hands on.
Condolences to his family and loved ones.
