1. Hi There! Soy de Argentina. Toco Maccann Duet concertina. Si necesitas alguna ayuda podés escribirime y te oriento un poco.
2. Acording to the Wheatstone ´s ledgers your concertina was made in 1966
3. Thank you both for your comments! Papawemba thank you for the article. I´m sending you a message.
4. I would really appreciate your opinions on this one. I´m looking to pick up the Anglo and I prefer vintage. 26 keys would be great since they usually are less expensive than 30 keys. Are the mahogany Lachenal steel reeds (pic) better than a Jones? Thank you!
5. What are your opinions on this tina? https://www.ebay.com/itm/324612301446 is it a Maccann with added thumbstrap to play like english?
6. Cerot thank you so much! Great review! Looks like the Rochelle 2 is a winner and big step up from the previous model. Great photos too!
7. Hi Cerot! Have you received the new Rochelle 2? Please post some pics and give us your impressions. Thank you!
8. Hi everyone! It´s been almost 4 or 5 years since my last post here! I´m picking up the concertina again. Last night I visited the concertina connection site and found that a Rochelle 2 is out now. There is only one picture and no videos and I haven't found any reviews here. Did anyone get one? it looks nice and considerably smaller than the old Rochelle. thanks!
9. Hi Bill! I´m from Buenos Aires, Argentina. You will see a lot of tango and bandoneon here. There are many traditional irish folk groups here but sadly no concertina. I´m the only one playing duet concertina that I know. I can´t understand why no one plays concertina here. You can found people playing all kind of rare instruments here but never concertina.
10. Thanks Don! I´m now hearing lots of Boden tunes on spotify UPDATE: I´ve made a playlist with all the Boden´s songs that includes concertina. Here is the link: https://open.spotify.com/user/11100042394/playlist/5UyXEomoAvtL0ZTZ46SWn3 Enjoy!
11. Jon Boden´s interview about going on a solo tour. You can hear it singing an playing his nice Maccann Duet Concertina around 1:40
12. Thank you Ceemonster. That´s a great idea. Some keys are really really tricky on the Maccann. C# for example could be imposible to play fluently. Thank you Don For the example on contrary motion All of your help makes me feel more confident about keep going with this peculiar system.
13. Thank you so much Greg. i was aware of Reuben Shawn and those clips but the videos do not work. I will try writing to the mail that shows at the bottom of the page to see if I can get a copy. Stefan thank you so much for your words. It does help to know about others struggling with Maccann concertinas You are right about setting a smaller aim. I have two Maccanns and both are 46 buttons wich I feel very comfortable with. I play in G, C, D, F and Bb. Those are pretty easy keys on this system and Bb is perfect for my singing. Thanks again Thanks Maccanic! I have been playing with some friends using my concertina more like an organ to fill songs behind acoustic guitars an vocals. It does sounds great this way! I will keep persevering on this thanksss!
14. Hi everyone. I´m sure I´m not the first Maccann player who ask this. I have been playing this system for a year now and I have the feeling of not getting better. There are no videos I could find of Maccann duet teaching and there are only a couple videos on Youtube of people playing it. Also living in Buenos Aires, Argentina does not help. I´m the only concertina player in maybe the whole country (and this is a big country) So I would be very thankful to anyone who can give me some tips or info. Anyone giving lessons online? Thank you so much!
15. Hey Alex I came to know this band thanks to a post you made about them a while ago. So thank you! He is one of the best anglo players I have heard
16. Great! I love the accompaniment. There is so hard to find new ways for singing accompaniment on duet concertina and your soundcloud clips helps me everytime. Thanks!
17. Me too! This is my first metal ended concertina. I´m loving it so far. One thing to note is that this metal ended is almost 2 times heavier than my other wooden ended.
18. My Lachenal Maccann duet arrived yesterday! I got it as a backup concertina to take with me everywhere. I bought it from Chris Algar like my previous Wheastone Maccann. I have to say it is always a pleasure deal with Mr. Algar. Sounds great and I´m finding bone buttons to be more comfortable than metal buttons. I love these small 46b duets. Easy to carry and easy to play stand up. Perfect for singing accompaniment. pics:
19. Thanks Ann! Thank you Maccannic! jaja very well said!
20. It surely is Mike! Thank you Stuart! I love the system. Some say McCann is not a very logical system but I´m finding it very comfortable to play. I have already started to look some bigger McCanns but one thing I love of this 46b concertina is the size. A 67b would be a lot more versatile than mine but also bigger and heavier. cheers!
21. Thank you so much! It is a beautiful sounding and looking instrument
22. So my Wheatstone 46b Maccann duet finally arrived a week ago and now I am a very happy person This is the concertina I was looking for all this time. I tried English and Anglo in the past but now I know now that the duet system is the right for me. In my opinion this is the best concertina system to sing with (just my opinion) I got it form Chris Algar of Barleycorn Concertinas and I had a really good experience dealing with him. I highly reccomend Chris if you are looking for an expert restored and fair priced concertina. pics: serial number: 35.333 (i think it places it 1938-1939?)
23. Thank you all for your help and your messages! I have just bought a beautiful Wheatstone Maccann from Chris Algar of Barleycorn Concertina. Now the hardest part... the wait! Thanks again!
24. Hi! I´m still looking for a Duet Concertina. 46b Maccann system or 48b Crane sytem in restored condition. Please contact me if you have something to offer. Shipping would be to Miami, FL. Thanks a lot! Gaspar
