	Anyone having problems accessing c.net over the last 24 hours or so?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	It's OK now (obviously), but yesterday, I was intermittently being refused access, and seeing a '<em>Forbidden, you do not have permission o access this resource</em>' message (not the exact wording, but it was something like that).
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Nothing has changed on my machine, and I was able to visit all my other usual web-sites...
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Thanks.

	How many times I have - and certian many others too, make annoying spelling errors on the C. Net and  other venues online these days.
</p>

<p>
	I should be more careful? Very annoying! Yes, the user's own fault of course! [my own keyboard is awful, slow connection,  as example]
</p>

<p>
	Is there  a spell checker feature on C. Net? or one that could be incorporated?  Then the i - e  - [repeated letters ] can be put into correct places - and all the i' s dotted, etc.  ..  ooops yes spelliung error here too <span class="ipsEmoji">😄</span><span class="ipsEmoji">😊</span>

	I've mentioned before that I see these public messages on the RSS feed. Not many - about once every couple of months. With one exception the poster obviously thought they were sending a PM. Another one today - a long personal message - prompts me to suggest that the feature be removed.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	This thread on the Invision Community duscusses it. One poster says "...I've seen email addresses, telephone numbers, personal enquiries, all posted publicly via status updates. People don't take the time to read descriptions [that says it's <em>public</em>] they see a field on a profile and proceed to use it.
</p>

<p>
	I disable status updates on every installation. I don't see the point of the feature..."

	On cnet tabs that I've had open for a while, a "pause" icon will inevitably show up next to the title. I gather the site is telling my browser—Firefox—that it's playing a sound (new post notifications, maybe?), but I've never heard a peep. I don't want to block cnet from playing sounds at the browser level because I'll often play embedded videos, but I wonder if anyone knows how to get it to stop this behavior.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Edit to add: cnet is the only site I regularly visit that does this. It happens on my other computer too. I generally know what I'm doing and have already turned it off and back on again. <em><a href="https://xkcd.com/806/" rel="external nofollow">Shibboleet</a>!</em>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<s>Edit 2: this is likely the same issue as <a href="https://www.concertina.net/forums/index.php?/topic/21768-concertinanet-is-preventing-my-win-10-system-from-going-to-sleep/" rel="">this one</a>—and, zounds, it's interfering with people's bluetooth hearing aids!</s>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Edit 3: it's nothing to do with sound. It's the forum software, apparently working as intended. See my next post.

	This is an interesting browser anomaly.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I mostly use Safari.   From any of the forum pages: it used to be that clicking on the date of the last reply brought me to....the last entry.  Now, it always brings me to the first entry in the thread. So if it's a thread with a lot of messages - think "current makes of concertinas" - I have to scroll down each page and hit the highest page number, and when I get to the last one, scroll down to the last message.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I switched to Chrome; same problem
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	But with Firefox, it worked properly; clicking on the last entry from the forum page brought me to the last entry of the target thread.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Just FYI, it's no big deal.

	This forum has 'Personal Status Updates', aka 'Public Messages', which are public posts 'within' a user's profile, rather than part of a discussion forum. I see these because I monitor c.net via RSS - as I mentioned in <a href="https://www.concertina.net/forums/index.php?/topic/24649-pm-appearing-in-rss-feeds/" rel="">this post.</a> Since asking that question I've seen a few of these and concluded that they're mostly accidental, that the user probably thought they were posting a forum topic, but I don't know.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Today I got a link to <a href="https://www.concertina.net/forums/index.php?/profile/8675-tunesfromtheflaggyshore/&amp;status=770&amp;type=status" rel="">this status update</a> which contains a tune (you may have to scroll down). I suspect that many (most?) people won't see that post. I don't know how others read the forum, but status updates are not included by default in unread content - or they're not for me.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Should status updates be included by default in unread content? Existing users might consider adding them.

	Old-timers here will remember that concertina.net once had a big portion of the site that was outside the forum structure.  I believe that some of that may have been taken down because it had become out of date - I know the old home/index page was taken down, though versions of it can be found on the Internet Archive at <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20130428015412/http://www.concertina.net/" rel="external nofollow">https://web.archive.org/web/20130428015412/http://www.concertina.net/</a> etc.

	But a number of interesting pages are still up, though not necessarily easy to find.  So my question: is there a complete list of those pages publicly available somewhere?  Here are some that I know about that are still available if you know the URL:
