Full Version: Its All In The Bellows...

Wow, I have only played two concertinas; a Rochelle and my new Tedrow.

I was pretty happy with the Rochelle. I was pretty awkward with the new Tedrow, all due to the supple easy action of the bellows. Now a couple of days into the new instrument I have settled down and am comfortable with it. I just picked up the Rochelle to play a few notes, and boy I can see why there was an adjustment to be made. The Rochelle bellows are so stiff that its like lifting weights compared to my Tedrow. I thought I'd play the Rochelle once in awhile, but now I doubt it.

I kind of thought the same thing, but I use my Rochelle when I want to take a concertina into work, or if I'm travelling. I'm not as worried about it. I fret when I travel with my Céilí.

The other advantage is that if I can play something half-decently on the Rochelle, I can almost play it well on the Céilí. (Almost well is as good as my playing gets, so far. Though it's improving.)
