In my quest for a Bb/F Anglo, I'm now looking at the Bb/F Morse Céilí.
Does anyone here know where I might be able to listen to clips of these
being played, or watch YouTube clips of one being played?
What do members think of these Concertinas?
Could you live with one, after playing a Jeffries for 20 years?
Or should I hold out for an old Lachenal?
Did Lachenal even make a Bb/F?
Cheers

Well, I have a Morse C/G that I was playing last night, and several Lachenal C/Gs I rarely play now. The Morse tone is great for me, and ergonomically and the light weight are a great fit for me. It's a keeper as far as I'm concerned. Some day I will ask them to make me one in lower tonality (maybe G/D or F/C).

Yes, Lachenal did make a Bb/F concertina, at least in the 20 button model......I have one, and I like it very much! I mostly use it for backing up certain songs my partner sings, but it is nice for the jigs and reels as well. You might consider having a Lachenal tuned down, but knowing how the Morse concertinas play and sound(the C/G ones are excellent), if they are available in Bb/F, then you would probably do better getting one of those, for maintenance reasons if nothing else. But then again, there is nothing like an old concertina, is there? take care,
Don

You LUCKY LUCKY man, she's a beauty.
Incidentally, I've gone down the E.C. route for accompanying our singers, but I certainly haven't ruled out the notion of getting my grubby paws on a Bb at some stage in the future.
I hope you'll be posting a few more Bb YouTubes?
Cheers
