This is possibly why I play the concertina and the melodeon, rather than a musical instrument. But I am intelligent enough to have noticed a tendency in recent months for English TV advertising to use 'folk' tunes as backing music. I have a history of just learning tunes before they become TV themes. I spent many weeks seeking the music for 'Stranger on the Shore', got it, laboriously learned the tune, and then it became an advert for cat food. Right now, I have decided that I should add 'I want to marry a lighthouse keeper', a song from the soundtrack of A Clockwork Orange, (film:1971), to my repertoire, before it becomes an advertising jingle.
Sheet music for this song does not seem to exist. Even though it is world renowned for already having been used as an advert for Sandtex Lighthouse Paint, on Irish TV, in the nineties. Erika Eigen, who might conveniently have published a song book, seems not to exist either.
Can anyone assist? A MIDI or ABC or , of course, the dots themselves, of 'I Want to Marry a Lighthouse Keeper', as performed by Erika Eigen, would be very welcome, as I may be able to learn the tune before Marks and Spencer, or somebody, adopts it as a surefire aid to selling dresses.
