I noticed that uploaded images automatically get "thumbnailed" with a click-to-enlarge link. When adding an image by URL reference (as I did here: *) the image can come in so huge, it stretches the message frame...

Can a linked image be resized?

Actually, you cannot re-size a *linked* image, I don't think. You would have to download the huge photograph onto your computer, and downsize it using Microsoft Office Picture Manager (or a variety of other programs that will so the same thing).

The photographs do not automatically get "thumbnailed" -- the way to do that is to look below the message window, to where it says File Attachments, then upload the photograph from your computer, then click on Add This Attachment, and THEN (this is the important part) click on "Add into Post." That way, you get a thumbnail that enlarges when you click on it, like the one below. I would provide the source URL for the photograph alongside the photograph, but I'm not sure if that's completely legal or not.

When post a picture on-line (on a photo hosting site like photobucket or imagestation) and add it into you post as a remote image (i.e. not as an attachment on Concertina.net), you will have to upload an appropriately sized image. You resize the original in a photo editing program (and use save as.. to store it, otherwise you'll loose your original).

This can be done if the admins add a "Custom BBCode" to the forum.

I have just tried this successfully on another Invisionboard forum. Here's how I did it:

QUOTE
AdminCP -> Management -> Add Custom BBCode

Custom BBCode Title: image resize

Custom BBCode Description: Resize linked images by defining height and width.

Custom BBCode Example: [image=height="200" width="100"] http://server/blah.jpg [/image]

Custom BBCode Tag: [image]

Use Option in tag? Yes

Custom BBCode Replacement: <img src="{content}" {option} />

In order to resize a linked image, your code should then look like the "Custom BBCode Example" above.
