I'm getting worried - where is our Jim? huh.gif
Chris Timson
I've had a brief email exchange. You will occasionally see his ghost flit briefly through the list of people connected. He is well, but busy. he drew my attention to this addendum to his last post:-

QUOTE
2500 looks nice.
New level seems a good place to rest.
New title deserves philosophical contemplation.
"Silence" is an experiment.

I thought perhaps Jim was writing in a rival Piano Accordion Website.
If anything will bring him back this will.

It appears Jim isn't so ineluctable after all.

But, contemplate this, Jim. The trend in the attached figure suggests that Ken will not have a new title for you until after more than 6000 posts. Better get busy.

Strange words from an astronomer, Chris!

Those who study non-linear mathematics usually say, "Defining our field as non-linear mathematics is akin to defining another field as the biology of non-elephants."

Far too many syllables, of course, but that's nearly terse enough to be a haiku... rolleyes.gif

Good try, Al.

I was trying to entice him in with grammatical questions.

We just have to be provocative enough ...

I know Jim has a lot of ICA work on his plate - in contrast, I've just finished scanning the batch of ICA Newsletters I copied at the Horniman a year ago, so I'm free to annoy you all, and leisurely catch up on all the other things I should have done!

I was looking through the posts about an hour ago and Jim was also on line! Maybe he is doing the Silence thing after all.........
Chris Timson
Yes, it's a good game, Spot The Jim. Rules are simple: every time you see his login, you add a post that says, simply, "I'VE SEEN JIM". The person who sees Jim most often in the year will gain no prize beyond a certain inner satisfaction.

Actually, there he is now...

I'VE SEEN JIM.

I'VE SEEN HIM! He must have been here while you were posting, Chris!

No Wes.. he's below you. Look at the screenshot that I just made!!

I have actually heard on good authority that owing to a computer error the actual number of Jim`s postings is 2501 ,so no problem Jim back to the keyboard my friend.

Maybe we should just all flood the forum with posts; I bet when people reach 2000 or so postings he will start posting again to keep ahead of the pack... of course they need to have purpose and be concertina related smile.gif

I like to play the concertina. I played some last night. Oh, and I saw Jim on this thread yesterday (to be on topic for this thread). How's that, Bill? Still a long way to go, though.

True, but if everyone shoots for 50 posts a day we ought to start catching up with him in no time smile.gif. Oh, and I like playing concertina too... played just last night in fact smile.gif.
Helen
Very good, Steven,

If you just add 2000 more posts, you will be in the running with Jim.

Of course, you will have no time to play concertina.

Helen

Good point Helen. That leads to a bit of a catch-22. If I'm posting so much I don't have time to play concertina, then I have no concertina playing to post about! Ouch, my brain hurts now.

By the way, I plan to play my concertina tonight. I expect I'll enjoy it.

Let's see... The all time most-visited thread since the new forum began is "Congratulations to Jim", which notes how often Jim posts. Now a thread dedicated to noting how much Jim is NOT posting is racing up the charts. Somewhere, Jim must be laughing.

Well, that makes me feel better. Let's just say I've been playing too much (after giving exams all day) to do any site administration work! wink.gif

I did! I did indeed! I tried playing some English Country Dance tunes, but my brain just wasn't in that gear last night, so I switched over to Christmas carols and had a lovely time. Of course, time then got away from me and I stayed up too late doing that, so I'm paying the price today. The things we endure for our music!

Oh, and sorry to be off topic, but I played my whistle some last night too.

Glad I could be of assistance in making you feel better! And I won't even tell your students that you're playing music instead of grading their exams....

My reading of the rules suggests that it's quite alright to be off-topic in your own time! So you're OK. smile.gif

Good for you Steven, glad you are enjoying your concertina.

Happy to hear you are playing, Ken. Administrative work will always be there. Have fun. Or as Allison would say, eat dessert first. Do anything but boring stuff.
