Hi all,
Just got back after a week of glorious weather and even better music at Sidmouth. A wonderful time was had by all (and the rumour mill was working overtime as you can imagine about Simdouth festival's future).
I got talking to a couple in the Radway one day, and they told me a story that reflects very well on Chris Algar. I hope they don't mind me passing it on but I was very impressed by this. It seems his wife really wanted a Crane duet, and so bid on a Lachenal one that Chris was selling on eBay. Not knowing the worth of concertinas she bid, and won, at 1600 pounds. They agreed she would pick it up at Sidmouth from Chris's stand.
When she got there Chris said the Lach wasn't worth 1600, but 1200. He then offered her either a refund of 400 or a Wheatstone Crane that was worth 1600 pounds. She took the Wheatstone.
Is that or is that not the act of an honourable man?
Chris
