Thanks for drawing our attentin to this wonderful aticle. I once saw a ceili band in ireland who had been playing together for 35 years, they sounded fabulous.

What an inspiring story- he sounds like a wonderful man.
Me, I don't know that I'll have all those years, but may we all have the joy and satisfaction from making music that he has.

My favorite quote from the article: "They're a' braw!"
Helen
Oh well I was kinda hoping someone would explain what " They're a' braw" means.

What, lassie, ye canna ken guid Scots?

From an on-line Scots-English dictionary here

"braw" = fine, elegant, beautiful, excellent

"a'"= all

"They're all beautiful"- meaning his tunes. Only it sounds bonnier in Scots!

"Bra", pronounced the same, also means "good" in both Norwegian and Swedish.
But that should be no surprise if you look at those three countries on the map and then try to imagine where their fishing boats might meet. smile.gif

In Denmark, on the other hand "god" means "good" and "gud" means "god". unsure.gif
