Allright, I got this lovely Edgley concertina in june 2004, and it's been my only (and first) concertina until last october when I received my Dipper concertina. My first idea was to keep the Edgley as a good backup in case I needed to send the Dipper for repairs, or just a cool instrument to play when I felt I wanted to change the 'feel' a bit. But, like many people, money is a pain, and it doesn't feel right to me to let such a great instrument sit while I'm mostly playing the Dipper. That's why I decided to put the instrument for sale. It's made of rosewood, and is the 'professional' model. It's in great shape and well broken into, plays very, very easily. I will attach a clip so that you can hear by yourself, and I'll also attach a picture.

The RH layout is wheatstone but with a Eb/C# - C#/Eb on push/pull on button 1 and 2 on the RH side accidental row. I really like this reverse C# and got the same on my Dipper.

I am selling the instrument for CAN$1900, which I think is a more than generous price as I paid about CAN$2500 for it, and an Edgley is one of the best hybrid available out there, although this is my opinion of course :-) It has a soft black case. Shipping is paid by the buyer. I will be at the East Durham/Catskills festival next month if anyone from the US wants to try.

Here's a clip I just recorded, some reels.

Of course I will make the usual donation to c.net if I sell through this board.

I enjoyed your sound clip Azalin. To my ear it's a good endorsement of the "real concertina sound" of an Edgley instrument, (whatever it is that he does to achieve that!)

Hope it sells well and finds a good home.

Thanks Tom. It's funny, I was thinking the same when I was listening to my clip. I was like 'Hey, wait a minute, this *does* sound almost like concertina reeds'. I've had my share of bad luck throughout the years but I think I got lucky with my concertinas. The Edgley was such a great choice to start playing, and I got a very nice instrument, and now my Dipper I think is one very good County Clare model, I'd say much better than all Dippers and Suttners I tried before... but I can't be/don't want to be objective, why would I be??
