So, a long time ago, I picked up a CD at a Borders. I bought it SOLELY because it said $2.99 Cheaper than Food on the cover.
The CD was the First Nordic Roots Sampler CD (Vol 1). There are some nice tunes on it (ok, lots of nice tracks, but a few nice tunes for a session). Anyone know where I could find some of this music to learn?
Thanks

Try to Google on:
Nordic Roots 1 or on one of the titles of the tunes.
You can also try Henrik Norbeck's Abc Tunes. There is an interesting section of Scandinavian Tunes (mostly Swedish).

Yes, a great album. They did a second one, and I featured both at various times on my radio show a few years back (I'm now in radio retirement).

Here are some sources for written Scandinavian music on the web:

A good source for CD's is:

I've been trying to play Scandinavian music on the English concertina -- its not traditional, but seems to fit well with the music. The button accordion is the traditional free reed instrument in Scandinavia. My favorite accordionist is Erik Pekkari:
