I picked up this accordion at an estate sale. I looks pretty old. I could not find any makers marks on it. Is anyone familiar with this. I am very curious about the history, e.g. who made it and when was it made. Any info on this really neat accordion would be highly appreciated.

It is a melodeon almost certainly made in Saxony in the town of Klingenthal in the late 19th or early 20th century. These were relatively cheap mass produced instruments and most do not justify much repair effort, though occasionally you may find one with steel reeds that can make a decent player.

Many thanks for your response. It looks like the one in this old ad, although the dimensions are not exact.

Wow, that's in rough shape! Sad to see a charming old instrument so decayed.

I think it is in pretty good shape for a 120 year old instrument. Wish I looked that good when I'm 120!

So that's why I don't see these anywhere .....they were all used to prune grape vines. But then again I am 120 years old an can't see much anyway. I guess this is quite a rare instrument.....as rare as helpful comments in this forum.
