Hello Dipper, Goodbye Lachenal

Recommended Posts

I can't believe it, but I finally have my Dipper. It's a County Clare with rosewood ends and it is a gorgeous piece of work. Also said goodbye to my trusty old Wallis (Lachenal) and shipped it to its new home in Canada. Anyway, here's the new addition to the family:

I must say that I 'm a little nervous about taking it out to sessions. I don't think I own anything as hard to replace (not counting the wife and kids).

Gosh! Do your wife and kids realise you value them so highly? There are, I am certain, people on this very forum who have sold their families into slavery to fund the purchase of a particularly fine concertina.

It sure is pretty, though. Take care of it, but do take it to sessions. It's a real joy playing a good instrument in a good session.

I'm working on it, but I'm still trying to find a buyer.

I am pleased for you.

I am also pleased for me, as i shuffle one place further up the queue.

Does the line continue around the corner, the next one, the one after that?

Is it too late to get a VIP pass and go straight through the velvet rope?

Oh, take it out to meet other concertinas. Teach it all your tunes and let it sing them!
