Bob Tedrow
I thought you might like to see this. I have never seen a failure like it before. The problem displayed with a slow sluggish lever. The brass lever has split down the middle, causing the lever to drag at the fulcrum. http://hmi.homewood.net/image/lever.jpg Bob Tedrow
dbowers
I've seen old metal parts fail in that manner, but only when they were made as some sort of lamination (braised or forge-welded). Do any of the other levers show signs of lamination?
Bob Tedrow
No, that was the only one. It does not appear to be laminated as the fissure is pretty jagged. I braized it and put it back into service. Bob
