Is Ringo an unknow English Concertina player?

The lads were very young. Reminds me of the old Marx brothers photo with the concertina and harp. We have multiple harps in this household and I shudder at the way John is stretching those strings, I hope they were de-tensioned first.

At least Ringo seems to know how to hold it. I'm more familiar with another photo from this same photo shoot, where they gave the concertina to George and he didn't know which end was up... and John sitting on the wrong side of the harp... this makes me cringe in so many ways!

If the photo was taken in Liverpool then the instruments may well have been borrowed from Rushworths. Rushworths were one of the city's principle musical instrument dealers until they closed around 2000. In addition to their extensive stock they also held an extensive collection of musical instruments (many now in the collection of National Museums Liverpool). They also supplied the Beatles with many of their instruments.
