celtictiger
Listened to Rte's Rolling Wave programme, guy from Na Piobairi Uilleann (Irish Piping)on there talking about Irish Piping.NPU have developed a new app called Moving Cloud. It brings together Video as well as audio an archive of Irish tunes.Although it was developed by a piping organisation there are other instruments i.e.. concertina, fiddle etc. It looks a great resource for Irish tunes. I did a search for concertina and there are quite a few Noel Hill videos as recently as 2014. The app is available through iTunes and Google play - iPad and tablet versions. It's free. Peter Laban
You can however register and for 25 euro get access to the entire archive of 20.000+ tunes, photographs and manuscript collections. All this is also on-line on the NPU website.
Bruce McCaskey
I've installed the App on an iPad and it looks promising, lots of good music there. I have to comment that the experience of getting registered was a little rocky however. Easy enough to find the App in the App Store and install it, but once it's opened, you are presented with a screen that requests your user name and password - but no guidance or options if you don't have one. I optimistically tried entering what I'd like to use, but that was rejected as invalid. No surprise there really. I went back to the App Store and re-read the description. No statements addressing the registration process but I tried the standard Apple App Store link to the "developer's website" which took me to "pipers.ie" and that gave me an option to register. Edited to correct the website reference. Edited July 27, 2014 by Bruce McCaskey
