Greg60304
I just bought a 20-button and am eager to learn...but I'm not making much progress on my own and can't locate a teacher in the Chicago area. Can anyone direct me?
RoyJanik
Well, you've got one of the best in your fair city. John Williams. I don't know how much he charges or how much spare time he has, but I know at least one person who does take lessons from him, and she couldn't be happier. http://www.johnwilliamsmusic.com/bio.htm
Greg60304
I've heard him play (on video) but had no idea he was from Chicago. I'll give it a try. Thanks very much. I'd also welcome any other ideas.
Sandy Winters
Go to Tommy Nevin's Pub in Evanston any Sunday afternoon (3 to 6) for the session. John Williams is there every Sunday. I'm pretty sure he will be running the Tues. nite session (8 to 11) at Chief O'Niell's Pub in Chicago *next* Tues. Not tonite. Cloda (sp??) Ryan is an excellent concertina player and I believe she is teaching lessons. She lives in the west (Oak Park, Park Forest or there abouts???) tomlaw90
Yes I had lessons in Milwaukee Irish Fest from Clodagh and she's a good teacher and lives in the Chicago area. Tom Lawrence
Greg60304
Thanks so much...this is great information. I haven't been able to locate contact information for Clodagh Ryan yet...but I'll keep looking. Any other possibilities that come to mind in the Chicago area (I live in the near-west suburbs -- Oak Park)? Thanks.
