Jody Kruskal
A Sample from my New CD in the Works. I've been working on a collection of songs that feature, or are about or even just briefly mention trains. Locomotive minstrelsy is a rich field to mine and I've been having a great time selecting the songs, practicing and starting to record. Here is an excerpt of Cannonball Blues, a Carter Family classic. I've been fooling around with the autoharp this year and I think it sounds great with concertina. Check it out! https://soundcloud.com/jodysconcertina/canonball-blues-jody-kruskal-excerpt
Steve Wilson
Wonderful as usual. Played with finesse and discretion. Is that a tuba in the mix, are you playing that too? And the CD will be available.........?
adrian brown
Yeah, sounds great Jody - love the jingle-jangle of the autoharp in the mix and the laid back feel of the performance. I was also wondering about the bass instrument - have you got a baritone anglo there? Adrian
Jody Kruskal
Hi Steve and Adrian, From the likes of you two, that is high praise indeed. Thanks for sharing your impressions, very helpful. No that is not a tuba actually though it does sound a bit like one. It's played on the C/G and then lowered digitally by an octave. Full out harmonic playing sounds terrible if you give it that treatment but a single note bass line sounds as you hear.
