Having Fun With Base Runs

Recommended Posts

From my early playing of the Anglo I have enjoyed playing single note base runs, mainly thumping out a base line with my little finger or my ring finger. If you have not tried it have a go.

Have a stab at Constant Billy or even Chocolate Rabbit for which I started with the base run and added a tune to it.All great fun.

A wonderful start to a new year and if you play softly it will not effect your hangover.

Happy New Year

Absolutely.

I'm an old dance guitar player, and on a lot of tunes I use the same bass runs I used to play on guitar. But they sound better on concertina, especially on the G/D, with those resonant low notes.

I'm playing a new year's dance tonight with a clarinet player...when he takes the lead I'm doing chords and tons of bass runs. That's my idea of a good time!

For anybody trying to learn this mode of playing, Alan's "chocolate rabbit" perfectly illustrates how good it can sound.

Not likely. To get to the recorded links page I find a post by Henk and click on the link he has listed below his name. How's that for 'round about. Al's recordings are right at the top of the listings. One of my favorites is Limey Pete. I always think of it when I'm working in my garden. The soil under my Lilacs is very acid and I hum his tune as I work in the lime with a pitchfork. :)

It looks like "preaching for your own parish" (as they say in The Netherlands), but I agree with you.

Up till recently I mainly visited the page to enter new tunes and of course I listened to every new entry. A few days ago however I took time to browse through the page and just listen. It is great to hear all those tunes played by C.Netters and there are real gems on this page :)

I seem to be very stupid because I cannot find it.

As Mark said, just look at my signature.

B.T.W.: There are so many things that I cannot find (just ask my wife!), but I do'nt think that I am stupid (for that reason)
