Sound Clips?

Recommended Posts

I am currently in the process of trying to make the move from the Stagi that I am currently playing to one of the midgrade instruments. I have been able to try a couple of midgrade instruments (Edgley and Tedrow) but unfortunately like most I don't have access to that many instruments. Baring hands on experience with the instruments, I suppose the next best thing would be able to hear sound clips. Unfortunately not all makers have sound clips on their websites. Does anyone know where I can find sound clips of the other midrange instruments? I am particularly interested in the Morse and the Herrington (being that they are the two North American makers I have not had a chance to try).

Maybe we should try to put together a clip archive like Chiff and Fipple has (or maybe just start using it since they allow instruments other than whistles on the site :)).

Thanks.

Bill

We've made some recordings of our Morse concertinas specifically for tone comparison purposes that we'll be putting up one our website - but with our move that's gotten put on the back burner. I'll find out what's up with them and put up a link here to the sound file though it may take a few days. Things are pretty scattered right now with boxes, paperwork, tools, furniture, etc. scattered in piles between here and our new place.

Where are you located? There may be someone nearby with one of ours. We also send them out on perusal as well. OTOH, if it's possible for you to make the hike, the Northeast Squeeze-In will probably have several of each mid-range ones for you to A/B them directly.

Thanks, I was looking for something like that. Just wish it had Herrington and Morse concertinas on it ;) Also wish the Norman was playing music a little more on the melody side... but beggars can't be choosers :).

I must say though everytime I hear the Edgley I keep being amazed by how much it sounds like it has real concertina reeds.. of course that might just be me :).

BTW, definitely looking for one that would be good for Irish Music. Doubt I would be using it for much of anything else.
